Well, this year looks to be the right time to upgrade. With this and Elder Scrolls Skyrim coming out, I'm sure that I'm going to need a more powerful rig. I've been eyeing an i7 for way too long anyways.

I hope for the following

- A mode SIMILAR to COD MW2. Just a simple TDM or DM that's it.
- Dedicated servers
- Use VAC for cheat detection
- Vastly improved hit detection

I've always been fine with the hit detection in BF games, it's an acquired taste though I admit that much. I honestly haven't been this excited for a game in a long long time. I have complete faith in DICE to make a fun game with long lasting MP appeal, I am sure it won't please everyone, but oh well.

DICE community manager Daniel Matros has posted on the Battlefield 3 forums that the Back to Karkland content pack (free on launch day with an in-box code, EA-style) will have four old Battlefield maps done up in the new Frostbite 2 engine: the original Wake Island, along with Battlefield 2's Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, and the Sharqi Peninsula. That's right, Wake Island again, as if enough blood hasn't been shed on that little patch of ground.

How? It's terrible. Though I guess you can somewhat attribute a lot of it to net code or something, but with so much time played in BF2 and other many many games that I've played where you aim at someone and shoot online, it's just... not right in the head.

I've very rarely had those problems in BF:V, BF2, BF1942 or even Joint Operations (which did have up to 128 players).

I don't think you appreciate the scale of the maps we expect to be playing on.

There is no such scale large enough for that many players. You're dreaming. It's an FPS, not an MMO. If I want to play "You have 10 seconds to live. Do your best so shoot someone", I'll play COD or go back to ancient Quake or hell maybe even Painkiller MP. I prefer to play with about 16 people max on maps as large as those as in BF2. Anything larger is just ridiculous and an endless race of people running around like chickens with their heads cut off and about 10-20 seconds to live every time you spawn. Regardless of whether or not your sneaky, thanks to Commanders.

You seem quite competent at spouting opinion as fact. You're not a politician are you?

I'll say again, in my experience, 64 players works just as good as 16 players when placed on the right maps. I rarely found myself with a 10 second lifespan. In fact, the newer CoD series has this problems at a 10x rate than the BF series ever did due to the dynamic spawn system. I've maybe spawned on a grenade/explosive in BF less than 10 times. I couldn't tell you how many times that's happened in CoD/games with small maps.

And as for not allowing strategy, **** me. 32 players on a team has a lot more potential for strategy than 8 per side. Unless you're talking about individual strategy, in which case, yes, you should play CoD.

If you were to check out BF2 reality mod you would get to see correct map scales for 32v32, most where around 4x the size of a normal bf2 map making them pretty much impossible to snipe from one side to the other they where also much more squad focused you need to have medics and ammo suppliers because dying and spawning 2 miles away was not an option if you wanted to win.

If you guys pay attention to what I said it IS fact that if you're on a server with 64 players you are not going to live long. Thus it's almost impossible to play with any style other than as I said.

From your previous comments it seems like you havent even played 64 player servers for long, it isnt a fragfest at all. The maps are so big, I can last whole maps dieing maybe a couple of times. I strictly only play 64 player servers in BF2 and 2142 and its never a problem.

It's the way it should be played imo.

I dunno man, ever since day one of the 1942 demo the hit detection in BF games just made sense and felt natural to me. Maybe because I am old and slow, my brain and my motorskills have some kind of symbiotic relationship with the BF hit detection. Seriously, it just makes sense to me if someone is running then aim ahead of them, if they are far away aim above them etc.. I guess if it was quake 3/ut with lazers! then the ModernWarfare type hit detection twould make sense.

You act as if that works well in BF2. It doesn't. I know what I'm talking about dude. I don't play COD. And I have thousands of hours in BF2 itself, not counting countless other FPS since Wolfenstein 3D in the early 90s.

And no duh you fire ahead of a moving target.

Also, the net code or whatever you want to call it is total **** in BF2. People have constant issues with "Connection issues" randomly appearing. I can't tell you how many times I've SEEN my knife land several times and the person did not die, yet my ping was 30-40ms.

There are issues with BF2 hit detection and net code. Like it or not.

You're either a troll or just delusional. The maps are not that big. I don't know what game you're playing, but it is not BF2.

Exactly. And it's isn't just a small thing it happens a lot. I.E. someone running at me and taking a shot gun to the head, blood animation going, and them taking no damage.

Also another issue that has really plagued BF2 and annoyed the living piss out of me are the cheaters. Punkbuster never, never catches these people.

For example, I remember a while back I was on Karkand and about 3 players were on top of a roof that is not reachable. I'm not talking one of the roofs that is reachable by a ladder. One that you literally can not get to.

Also the other night I was playing on Karkand, prone on a hill looking down at the other end of the map. A player walked out from behind a building with his back to me. Suddenly he spins around and fires a missile straight at my head! Then he has the nerve to claim he is not cheating. Also I caught him continuously knowing exactly where I was and firing accurate shots as soon as he came from behind a corner. Even IF he saw me on the radar (I ****ing hate commander btw) there is no possible way he could have known where to aim within a split second of coming around a corner. It just doesn't happen. You may spray and pray and get lucky, but firing off 1 accurate head shot or a few perfect shots every time. No.

I don't care what anyone says. I see this all the time and these people are not legit fair players.

Yea, I still play it from time to time. I still also use the [Rage3D] tag that a bunch of us started using ages ago. Pretty much right after release.

I admit some people don't like it, your one of those people it's not personal but apparently you have to take everything that way.the hit detection aint perfect and neither am I, but i love it.

I admit I get kind of defensive because BF2 would have been a REALLY great game if not for issues here and there that should have been addressed in the first few months. And the thing is the only other option we have is crap like COD. Then you have the people that play games like COD that ruin games like BF2 for us even further.

Hmmm interesting map layout... i sure hope one can get to any of those roof tops via vehicles. A little too much exposure, but, i need to play in it before i know its its bothersome or not.
