Default The ultimate in insanity.

As the title suggests, here it is:

http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=.../0/vY8uppkjwL0

It also has the distinction of needing a pair of 1300 watt power supplies to power the system up,as while running the benchmark,it pulls nearly 1500 watts of power thru the entire run,so there isn't a single power supply on the market that could run that setup on it's own,at least not without being completely maxed out.

He's using an i7 980x CPU as well, water cooled to 4.4 Ghz,while the GPU's are at 803 Mhz and 1000 Mhz for the ram, with the fan running at 100%,and the end result speaks for itself,by hitting 84 FPS average at 1920*1200 with 8X AA,16X AF and extreme tesselation in the heaven 2.0 benchmark....

For reference,my own setup(a pair of HD5970's in Quad crossfire),can come in at just 40 Fps at those same settings, but i'm only using an i7 920 clocked at 4Ghz,so i'll see if my result changes when the i7 970 6 core is released in a few weeks from now.

Silverstone Strider ST1500 http://www.silverstonetek.com/produc...T1500&area=usa

Ultra X4 1600 http://www.ultraproducts.com/applica...882&CatId=5115

These will do it just fine, the Silverstone Strider ST is probably better of the two.

They can do it,but it's right at their 100% load limit, which if the user wants to keep on using that power supply in the longer term, you never push it that hard in a sustained way, with the general rule being 70~75% load as a maximum,so that the power supply actually lasts a few years.

Then we also have to check wich wall outlet is the system plugged into, and if it has it's own didicated circuit breaker or not,and what the total amperage of that breaker is,which in US homes is usually 15 Amps at 120 volts, and that allows to draw 1800 watts from the outlet, before the breaker kicks in and shuts down the power to that outlet.

Better not have any lights in the room connected to that same circuit,or a TV,DVD player or home theater setup for that matter while we're at it....

For reference,i ran at the same settings, but kept it at 4X AA,and my HD5970's were running at 875/1200Mhz thanks to MSI's afterburner.

A pretty respectable score, but that a Quad SLI GTX480,overclocked no less, can still pull an extra 23 Fps on top but with 8X AA makes it truly in a class of it's own when it comes to tesselation and some pretty strong AA performance as well.

I'd be lucky if i could crack 40 FPS if running at the exact same settings as the Quad SLI did,but on the other hard that setup,on the graphics cards alone,is a 2200$ investment, while my cards cost 1400$ and can make do with a 1000 watt power supply just fine.

It looks though as Intel will be releasing an i7 970 CPU in the coming weeks, which happens to be a 6 core CPU,so i'll try to get that running at the same speed as tributar ran that 980x at(4.4Ghz),and see if theres any changes.
