SonyDude is still being judged by the masses

Angry what's wrong with "setup.exe" and windows prefering ".msi" ???

Ok guys, I dunno if you've come across this one yet or not... Fresh install of XP Pro, service packs, net fram work 1.1 & 2.0, the whole enchilada... I've tried searching google, and the forums here to no avail.

Now, it seems i'm having problems installing some games.
The cd / dvd auto-luancher pops up, i click "install" and when the program normally would run the "setup.exe" i get a darned
Quote:
_is125.tmp
_is125.tmp has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconveniance.
Now the darned thing is, for a couple games i've been able to get around this by double-clicking on the similarly named .msi file, and the install proceeds as normal.

But for other games, either theres no ".msi" , or when clicking the ".msi" i get another pop-up with an exclamation mark:
Quote:
1: This installation cannot be run by directly launching the MSI package. You must run setup.exe

So what's going on here? And yes, I am the system admin account on my machine. Thanks in advance to ya guys and gals. This is really driving me up the walls. if you need any more info, just ask. Thx!
