![]() Yes at 110C is when it throttles. Memory max is around 73-80 C. |

![]() So the new pads came. I tried my best to focus on memory and get that fixed and viola I am back at 98 C highest memory temps while mining. And guess what I screwed up the GPU mount so my GPU is now going to 81 C when playing games and 77 C while mining (used to be 68 C). So I am screwed again and need to re do the whole thing. Tomorrow morning as I am tired af right now. Also thermalright are thieves. I had no idea how little pad comes in each 15$ purchase. ![]() |

![]() Repasted the card for the 9th time now and still temps are rising to 77 C. However, hot spot has come down from 105 C to 92 C. All other temps are fine. Mining the temps are now 73 C whereas, they used to be 69 C. Gaming used to be 72 C but now hitting 77 C. I am going to see if the paste settles down and temps improve. Memory junction dropped from 100-106 C to 90-100 C. All other temps including memory dropped from 75-80 C down to high 60s. Power 4 which used to hit 82 C is also down to 75 C. I think I am going to keep the core sacrifice of 5 C and not repaste for at least a couple of days. Hopefully the paste settles down and things improve. I am using MX-4 for now but if I have to repaste a 10th time I will use the grizzly I have lying around. Overall, lesson learnt. If it ain't broke don't bork it. ![]() Very tiresome adventure this. After making some adjustments on power and clocks it is now mining at 68 C same as before. So at least that is sorted. Will try out a bunch of games and temps. Usually CODCW and Dirt 4 really used to push the temps high in the 72 C range. Let’s hope it stays there. Last edited by KAC : Mar 19, 2021 at 01:51 AM. |

![]() Finally figured out what is causing the high gaming temperatures. It came to me in my dream. It is the top memory thermal pad on the front face. It is too thick. Will repaste again today to see what’s up. This has been such a terrible learning process. I have maybe been cutting corners here and there or overdoing the pads and it caused me to repaste the damn thing 3 times for something I could’ve done well the first time. Time to wake up. Woke up and now temps don't cross 75 C while gaming. Think paste needs to settle down some more. Since comp is mining paste is not even settling down and might still be liquid because of all the heat. This saves me a repaste. Not bad. Last edited by KAC : Mar 19, 2021 at 11:42 PM. |

![]() I told you to make sure they aren't too thick because it'll hurt the contact on the die. ![]() |

![]() Yeah I think I may re paste it one more time. Right now it is very iffy. Sometimes it runs around 75 C which is still about 2-3 C higher than stock. Other times it is hitting 77-79 C. I may also just press down the cooler hard enough so that contact is good. Not sure what I want to do tbh. I can probably repaste in all of 15 mins but don’t want to mess up something else again. |
