I can play it just fine without a wheel - beating the computers stage records etc. But yea, get RBR.

Realism - RBR
Graphics - I like CMR05 better but both look great
Sound - RBR
Gameplay - Fun, both of them.

I always get very frustrated that the cars in CMR05 don't respond natrual to steering input. If something goes wrong it feels as it happens because of the flaws of the physics engine. In RBR I feel as I'm in complete control of the car, and if I loose control I know that it was because I did something wrong and not because of the game.

CMR05 sucks. It's not even Arcady, every corner is a sheet of Ice that seems to cause lateral acceleration at even the most reasonable speeds. I was disgusted with the handling.

RBR, OTOH, is predictable and the cars handle as one might expect in the realworld. Like others said, there is no comparison.

in terms of graphics both games are pretty abysmal. very low poly and terrible texturing.

some of you people need to learn what photorealistic is. the word is thrown around way too much on this forum, especially for games that look like ass.

yes if u scrutiunise every individual texture in rbr it may not look that great. but overall, if u compare rbr scenery to a real photo it's pretty darn close

Whether it's "photorealistic" or not, it's cutting edge for what can be implemented in a game at this time.

Flat Trees and Low poly doesn't matter much when you go flying by at 120kmh

It looks DAMN GOOD in motion.... Not to mention the attention to detail... Say you are playing from in the car... it's not as bright as outside, because of a slight tint on the windshield.... and then Say you crack the windshield... The cracks block your vision and it becomes extremely hard to see

The only thing I don't like about interior view is tha instead of using the gauges, it still has the hud in the corner of the screen.

there arent any, we dont have anywhere near enough rendering power to even approach photorealism in realtime.

Well, what is "cutting edge" if not one of the best available? You want it both ways, complain about the lack of "Photorealism" while knowing that "Photorealism" isn't yet even possible. Certainly "Photorealism" is a laudable goal and I too wait for the day, but until that day comes complaining that Game X doesn't have it is rather ridiculous.

The best way I can put it. I owned both, I played both. I'm still playing RBR. I just sold CMR05 on eBay.

I've owned every CMR game to date (well from 2 on) and loved them, but richard burns rally offers so much more as far as gameplay is concerned, and the graphics are also much better. CMR pays more attention to detail in some areas, the in car rain effects for example, but overall the graphics of CMR don't look as good as RBR, it does require a much higher level of concentration than CMR, I try not to play RBR late at night, it seems harder. Also, I find it much easier to drive manual than automatic, and I always use automatic for games, the extra control over the car makes driving in RBR much easier for me.

Somebody made a mod that makes this look much better, the hud looks almost the same but it looks like it's part of the steering wheel. it doesn't sound great but I think it looks much bettter. You can get it over at http://www.bhmotorsports.com

damnit, RBR is NOT a good looking game, it is simply an awesome game. Photorealism = unpossable with alot of bitmaps everywhere.

RBR looks very very good, maybe some of the foliage doesn't look good close up but have you seen the textures in CMR? In my opinion RBR is the best looking rally racing game I've ever played, and I've played a lot of them. I've taken many screenshots from this game that look like photos. If you're looking for flaws I'm sure you can find some area where some extra geometric detail would've been nice but who cares when it's a tiny part of a 10 km track you finish in 6 minutes anyway? I've seen some lame looking graphics when I've flown into one of those flat looking trees, so what, I've seen much worse much more frequently in the best other game available like this, CMR, this isn't a FPS, it's a racing simulator, it'd take huge amounts of resources to render trees and stuff like they do for FPS, saying it's not a good looking game, what are you comparing it too, because I'd love to see the rally racing game that makes RBR a bad looking game by comparison.
