Sniper Elite, not too shabby!

Just finished Sniper Elite. Have to say, it turned out to be a pretty good game. Took me a minute to get used to it, but once I did, I enjoyed playing the game as a snipo. Good story, decent length, smooth play.

Best month I can remember since I've been gaming, this many good games almost all at once. Cold War, Total Overdose, Serious Sam 2, FEAR, Quake 4, Sniper Elite. Very nice for a change.

This game needs a demo. Sounds like it has potential but without a taste I'm not touching it.

I actually played the coop with a f riend on x-box for quite a bit this weekend. It is quite an enjoyable game, at least a lot more than i thought it would be. Very Very tense at times, but at other times its kind of annoying waiting 5 minutes for someone to pop their heads out from behind a wall.

It's a WWII shooter. You play the entire game as a sniper going on different missions. You can also fire without the scope and use different weapons but I used the sniper rifle about 90% of the time. You can set the scope differently adding wind and gravity effects to adjust for. Has bullet time effects to watch the bullet hit those 150 yd headshots! Very nice effects. Graphics are nice, game runs very smooth. Also stuff like blowing up tanks with grenades/TNT and using timed explosives to open up entries. Missions pretty varied, rescues, assinations, escorts, recon, etc. You can just run in blasting like crazy (you won't last very long that way) or use the slower method of sneaking, using binoculars to scope out the enemy, getting in good sniping locations and watching your back. You can even shoot the grenades off their belts if you're good enough. You can line up 2 or even 3 enemies and take them all out with one shot! Remember Quigley Down Under? Like that, heh heh. I actually felt like a sniper and also like I could get sniped at any minute if I didn't pay attention to the surrounding areas. Big environments with lots of routes to get to enemies. I enjoyed the game a lot.

I guess that takes you out of quite a few games then.

I pretty much had my fill of WW2 shooters myself after being saturated with MOH, RTCW and Call of Duty (even though I still have the first 2 on my computer and still play them from time to time when I'm in the mood). I passed on Call of Duty 2 because of it. The reason why I gave Sniper Elite a shot was the playing the whole game as a sniper which was a bit different.

Hidde&Dangerous2 is a bit different too, the only WWII tactical shooter and it is also based on the SAS. Those that played Mafia know the quality of work that has been put into it then, same developer. Out of all WWII shooters to come out in the past few years i enjoyed this one the most.

Why do WWII game haters always feel the need to come into a thread to announce that they are not going to play a WWII game? Guess what? Who cares! Anywho, Hidden and Dangerous 2 is one of the best WWII tactical shooters to date. I hope they make H&D3.
