Athena can beat 'Minesweeper' on any difficultyAthena can beat 'Minesweeper' on any difficultyAthena can beat 'Minesweeper' on any difficulty

Unhappy Oh heck no!

Oh well it was bound to happen. I got a new doctor as I have not got better and I seem to be developing a resistance to the meds that had been helping my IBS. So the nice lady Doc that took over my case has ordered a colonoscopy

Going to use up my last vacation day of the year for this indignity. Going to put a drone up my bumm and take some video to make sure I do not have cancer. While it will be good to confirm I do not have cancer, or something else she had a fancy name I already forget that means messed up guts but not IBS. I am nearly 100% certain I do not have cancer gong off the gallons of blood-work they have done that all came up healthy when looking for cancer. But she is worried given my lack of improvement and when she touched my stomach even softly and I winched in pain. She is like "we have to know what is causing that and to know we have to eliminate all the possibilities."

To be honest I was hoping she had a magic book that would just tell me what was wrong and how to fix it.

So next month is the big fun day. Yay me!

Having a doctor who says "we have to know" is actually pretty great nowadays. Many are like "your 5 minutes are up, here's a prescription for something that won't do jack but will get you out of my hair for a couple weeks".

Good luck on the bum scope. Hope they find a solution.

Seriously at your age it's about time. Drinking the prep and running to the bathroom is by far the worst part of the whole thing. You'll be sedated for the part where they violate your anus.
I've lost many friends to colon cancer. Better to get it done than not. I'm overdue for another now.

From what I know of colan cancer, it doesn't show up in routine bloodwork...hence the need for the colonoscopy. From what you've said though, it sounds doubtful that it is but always good to know either way.

Was the other disease she was concerned about called Chrones disease by any chance? That can frequently accompany IBS, or develop from having IBS. Hopefully you don't have that as my former boss has that and it appears to be a nightmare of pain, surgeries, and limiting the types of foods you eat for the rest of your life. There were times where he'd have a flare up and would miss weeks of work because he was in so much pain he couldn't even drive his truck.

I had a episode a few years back where i was constipated and had blood coming out when i did go. Went for the colonoscopy and also turned out to be IBS so nothing too major. I do constantly have issues with my stomach though and its always sore, at least not to the extent where i crawl in pain but mostly an annoyance . They told me i have to watch my diet but i can't figure out what causes it, its pretty much always the same but i have seen if i eat plain yogurt in the mornings then its mostly manageable during the day

Umm...well here's hoping you don't have chrons. I thankfully don't have it, but from what I saw it do over 5 years to my former boss, it's not something I'd want...ever. When I left my old job about 8 months ago, he was about to have surgery to remove part of his lower intestine.

Good news is, from what I heard a few months ago, he was doing fine after taking 2 months to recover. He stated his goal was to eat normal foods again instead of living on plain rice and a single slice of roast beef on some special sort of bread. I have no idea if he was able to attain that goal or not as I haven't talked to him in a few months.

Yeah from what I've seen, my former boss tried HARD to live a normal life but he couldn't do it very well. Even with his millions of dollars and access to the best medical care, it still ripped him up and slowly got worse over time. Best he could do was have surgeries when required and attempt to keep flare ups to a minimum (no way to prevent them completely). He can go a few months with no flareups, and then with no warning it would hit him hard and he'd be completely leveled for a week or two, never coming to work.

So the deed is done now the waiting game for the results.

I had remembered wrong they are testing for Ischemic Colitis and cancer not crones like I thought after it was suggested.

So he said it looked great. Only found one small polyp they will test but he said he is thinking it will be negative for cancer. I find out all the results by the 7th of Oct.

Can't believe I missed this thread, but at the Crohns and normal life comment.

You can lead a normal-ish life under the best of circumstances, but your "normal" will never be what other people's "normal" is.

I'm pretty good nowadays though, thank God. Actually REALLY close to getting to 200lbs, which being 5'9"-ish is fairly good sized.

Better start packing on the pounds in the gym. Work out and work out often. It's one of the few things that saved my life. Make a food journal of what does/does not affect you. Try and eat clean (like you're a bodybuilder) with cheat days on the weekend and if your Crohns isn't bad you may be alright.

Praying you don't have Crohns, but if you do it's not the end of the world. Does it suck? Sure as hell does. Is it as horrible as cancer, aids, curio doinking your wife....nah.

A Dennis Wolfberg comedy classic, though this is during the Rigid Sigmoidoscopy era.

I've had two colonoscopies now. They had me on a three year rotation but not any more.

Well met with the doc and had fair news. I new it was not good news when she made me sit and read the report rather than just talk me through it. So the basic gist of it is that I pre-cancer type growth material and as long as they remove it in a timely manner it should never get to actual cancer. So I was "lucky" to have such bad gut issues that I went in early so they removed the polyp and took the samples. yay I feel so lucky.

Also no Ischemic Colitis so that is "good" just what she calls extreme IBS so they are finely going to give me some pain medication. She tested the stomach by touching different spots and it would jump and flinch as she barely touched it and I recounted how that would effect my marriage and she was like why has no one ever given you any pain meds. I noted how we live in a time no other doc wants to be the doc that gave some one an addictive pain killer anymore. She was live wow there are so many pain killer for ABS that are non additive!! She was kind of mad. So there you go I now have some pain meds.

My girlfriend/exwife may actually be able to touch me with out me flinching in pain!!

First time in like, I do not even know

So I am on the 5 year plan for this now. yay me ^_^

Sounds like good news that they caught it early. Hope the pain meds work well.
