400hp feels sluggish!??! Wow... Granted that your use to bigger monsters, but if you line this up to whats sold on the market, price/performance, does it do well? What is its market anyway. What is this lined up against?!

First car I ever bought, only car I've ever owned. Been driving it for close to eleven years. I'm probably going to step out of the trailer park soon and buy something else; so I thought I would give it a little tribute for its years of service and post it here.







I put a lot of time into this car: SLP exhaust/headers to the tailpipe, LT4 conversion/rockers to the timing set, Aluminum drive shaft, 3.73 gears, MSD ignition, Trick Flow/K&N aspiration, Welded subframe. It eats Vettes for breakfast I'll miss it

the gto is far from sluggish. im used to my 12 second gn and it still feels plenty fast to me. i love it. others have run stock times in the high 12's to low 13's. its not an easy car to launch with its IRS. the color doesnt look that great in those pics. when its cleaned and in the sun, it looks fantastic. the interior is also great. i get almost as many looks and thumbs up in this car as i do in my GN.

well, the mustang gt for one. most gt's are close to $30k due to their popularity. the gto outperforms it and has better qulality interior. the dodge charger srt8 starts at $35K with no options. can easily get over $40k. gto outperforms it as well. there's some bmw's it could compete with but they'd all be quite a bit more. gto msrp is $31k. can get leftover 05's for $26-28k. the price performance ratio cant be beat on the goat.

Id take the GTO before any of the Chargers, mustangs and stuff. IMO The interior on those cars suck big time. Its so truck like, all big and clunky. That goes for the Magnum and the 300 as well. Your right, for the price your getting some serious power there... let along some fantastic style. Ahh... i see what you mean about the colour now. Its better than what i thought it was. Nice, though i think id stick to black or the dark impulse blue.

if you ever go to the Buick vs Ford shootout @ Thunder Valley Raceway in OK, maybe we can! its at the end of october. typically ~75-100 buicks and ~75-100 fords show up. its all heads-up, run-what-you-brung fun.

I very well may be there this year. What numbers is your GN running? I just put my new motor together and I've only got to do 2 runs on it but so far it's put down 11.4 @ 125mph so seems to run pretty strong especially here @ 3500 feet above sea level.

@Turbo Brian- that gto is one ugly mofo- but damn, it's fast. Seeing you have a Grand National as well, might want to hold onto that GTO- they stopped production, right?

Had it just over a year now, and have done a few things here and there. Nothing much has changed visually from when I purchased the car, except for a few engine things and the exhaust pipes which are in the pics. Next mods are going to be an SCT2 Tune and Ford Racing 4.30 gears, most likely by the end of the month. Work on the car projects has been slow since I moved to Portland a few months ago, I never drive it anymore since all it ever does is rain in this hellhole.

**G.I.BRO**, took a pic of the interior for ya this weekend. the flash went off and kinda washed it out a bit. the gauges are orange and match the stiching. also took a pic of the new grills i installed. gm should've made the SAP package standard instead of "accessories". guess its their way of milking more $$ outta ya. $200 for just the grilles the whole package is like $2k

Ugh, looks like you've got some nasty oxidation on those headlights (could just be moisture though, can't tell). I had some oxidation on the headlights of my Accord and used Plastx on them - good as new!!!

Yellow/oxidized headlights really ruin the look of a car IMO.

Yeah, the more I look at it I think it is just moisture. In any case, people with yellow/oxidized headlights, use Plastx.

Some models are especially prone to it - Chrysler cars come to mind (Neon esp)

Seeing as how this thread has gone this far. I'll try.. My family is a car family, so Im trying to dig up some pics of some of our cars. We've all had something to do with the making of these cars.

This is my uncle Rons Camaro.







The interior was done in the 80s, but its crushed velvet through-out. You DO NOT touch this car in ANY harsh manner. If you drive it (it does get driven) you DO NOT wear shoes. Do not get dirt on it. Its estimated worth by an appraiser is 30k. Its custom paint and interior. Stock original 350 ci. engine with some ignition stuff. Borla mufflers, wheels and tires. The rear end is a custom 4 link coil sprung suspension for drag operation. A Muncie M-22 tranny drives the rear w/ 4.56 and the N-45 tires.



Uncle Rob. His Red one is on the right. Its interior has not been done, and I do not have many pics of it. Its a hot 454 w/ M-21 tranny and 4.11s in the rear with the same N-45 size tires.



It doesnt look special today, but its my and my fathers car. Today its a race car and street legal, however.. Very difficult to drive on the street.

ZZ502 engine built by Sallee Chevrolet. 550hp and 600 ft.lbs. of torque. The horses are corralled by a Hughes built TH400 tranny w/ 4000rpm stall converter and feed to the beefed Corp. shortened and saddled 12bolt. Depending on the size of the tire its capable of high 10 second passes. It runs sub frame connectors today to prevent the body from twisting anymore. Its already had a window or two pop.

This is my fathers Model A. Its pristinely restored. You dont breath on it wrong, or he'll kill you.





This is my dads lowrider. I wish I had a better pic of it. It is the most tasteful lowrider Ive ever seen. The body isnt far from stock. No tint or any custom paint, etc. The TOYOTA on the gate has been removed, and it sits very low. couple inches. Eagle 16" "centerline" style wheels with low profile tires. Nothing else is changed. Its very slick looking, rides nice.



My fathers studebaker stuff. He has a pristine 30 something as well. I dont have a pic of it in its storage, but I have had the pleasure of driving it. It actually has a syncro tranny, so its easy to drive. Its one of 6 Studebaker 4 wheel drive trucks to be built. Its worth a lot of money. More money than I would be comfortable enough to have in my bank. Otherwise, heres some of the spare stuff. (he owns 4, 1 pristine, others to be restored)





My fathers old Chevy. He plans to have a hot rod 454 powered, and tubbed in a few years.

The "Al Capone" car. Its a '23 Dodge Brothers. There is no model. Its the only thing they built during that time. Its old, tough to drive, doesnt get any girls, but its a phat ride.

We as well have a 1978 3/4 ton GMC Jimmy. Its nothing to look at, but been well abused, totalled more than a couple cars, gone logging (wrecked into trees) and always got us home. Its sh1t brown. Runs 33 inch mud terrians. Fenders are falling off, engine has 6psi oil pressure @ 2 grand. Its how they built trucks. Runs forever, abused in the most extreme of the sense. There are stories for ever dent, bash, rash, bent wheel.

nice banshee. i've owned 3 over the years and i'm really wanting to pick up another.

i've got a suzuki lt500 i'm trying to restore and a grizzly that i beat on in the woods. gonna try to pick up a late model used banshee and just rebuild the motor.
