Default Radeon 7500C mobility, will it support....

I'm going to purchase a wide-screen LCD from Dell to use in conjuction with my Inspiron 5100, which has a radeon 7500C mobility with 32mb vram, my question is, does anyone know if this card will support a 1680x1050 resolution? In theory it should be capable, but when I hook it up to my 22inch NED Multisync CRT, its max res is 1600x1200. Will a driver update allow me to display widescreen at 1680x1050? I am purchasing the flat screen for college to watch movies and have more desktop space without lugging my 71lb CRT there. I dont game very much and if I do its not on a laptop so I'm not worried about performance.

Thanks for any help you guys can give.

IIRC, the DAC of the AGP version of the Radeon 7500 supports resolutions up to 2048 x 1500something.
I think you're going to be fine.

ATI Technologies Forcing XP to use 1680 x 1050

I know this is an old post, but it relates to an issue I am dealing with. I too have a Dell laptop (Inspiron 5100) and am wanting to use a 20 inch widescreen. I am running Windows XP and the latest ATI drivers from Dell. However when I connected my 20 inch widescreen Dell 2007WFP display, I do not have 1680 x 1050 as an option. After talking with Dell's tech support they that resolution isn't supported by my laptop. My question is if the chip supports it, can Windows be forced to run at 1680 x 1050? Is there a different driver I need to get or a hack?

Talking PowerStrip works GREAT!

Thanks for the tip! After posting here a friend from the office also directed me towards PowerStrip software. I downloaded the tool and was able to successfully override the default settings! From their preset options I selected the custom resolution of 1680 x 1050 60Hz (there are two other options that worked, but this one seemed more correct for the monitor). Upon reboot everything worked great!

For those who are reading this post, you can download this shareware tool at: http://entechtaiwan.com/util/ps.shtm
