![]() I've decided to go with a 7970 for my next upgrade. My 4870 has been with me for over 4 years now. It just doesn't cut it for some of the newer games. I know I'll need something to run Crysis 3 at decent settings. The only thing I'm looking for in a 7970 is 2 DVI connections. There's a few I found on Newegg but I'm not sure if there are any others out there. I don't care about the OEM cooling since I'll be water cooling it anyway. Are the non-GHz editions easily overclockable to GHz edition speeds? If yes, I'll be happy to go with one of those to save money. Here's what I found on Newegg. PowerColor AX7970 3GBD5-2DHV3 Radeon HD 7970 3GB SAPPHIRE 100351SR Radeon HD 7970 3GB MSI R7970 Lightning Radeon HD 7970 3GB ASUS HD7970-DC2-3GD5 Radeon HD 7970 3GB PowerColor PCS+ AX7970 3GBD5-2DHPPV Radeon HD 7970 VORTEXII 3GB GHz versions - SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100351VXSR Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition 3GB SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100351-6GVXSR Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition 6GB Unless the extra 3GB provides a noticable difference, the higher price isn't worth it to me.

![]() Pretty much all the 7970 cards will do 1 Ghz without any problems. Most will do 1.1 GHz pretty easy as well so I wouldn't spend the extra money on the 1 GHz edition. And base on the benchmarks I have read the card with 6 GB of vram wont give you any more performance. |
