Default CD project Red and GoG to give away a free "Legendary" PC RPG for free this Thursday

Quote:
CD Projekt Red will give away a "legendary" PC RPG for free on GOG.com this Thursday, 5th April, Eurogamer can reveal.
The giveaway coincides with CD Projekt's Spring Conference, which is being streamed live at 5pm GMT (presumably 6pm BST).
Note that giveaway has nothing to do with the "extraordinary" conference announcement CD Projekt has been teasing.
CD Projekt Red head of marketing Michal Platkow-Gilewski explained to Eurogamer: "No, there will be no announcement of a new game.
"But to give you some hints and not to spoil the surprise, CD Projekt RED and GOG.com have prepared something very special for all the PC fans of The Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings, who already have the game, as well as for all those who will buy one any time in the future.
"It is something really unique," he added.
"More to come on the conference."
A free copy of The Witcher 1? What has CD Projekt got up its deer-hide sleeve?
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...om-on-thursday

Excited to see what this will be Free copy of "Legend Of Grimrock, perhaps?

Witcher 1.
Witcher 2.

That is it.

So I am guessing Witcher 1

Well isn't CD Projekt Red and GOG.com business partners?

So they can give away any game on GOG.com I would assume, not just CD Projekt Red games.

Witcher 1. What else could it be? What else is "legendary" to them (that they would be able to release+have in catalog)

Would be nice if it was System Shock 2 though; but my money is on Witcher 1, especially since they mention Witcher 2 in the press release.

Probably for most people who bought Witcher 2 it wouldn't be a big deal at all, because I bet most of them already have The Witcher 1. Heck, they sold 400,000 more copies of Witcher 1 after the release of Witcher 2. What, all of 10 people would be happy to get The Witcher 1, everyone would be "oh, ok, what ever, already have the game, meh"

So I really hope this hype they are creating is something more then giving another copy of The Witcher 1 that nearly all their customers already have.

Just as good in every respect. Different combat system and graphics, but still one of the great RPGs to be released ever.

i can try.

it just started :

- witcher 2 has sold 1.1 million units to date.
- new 6 minute trailer coming tomorrow, they showed a 1 min preview. it seems like a new quest. they showed geralt riding away on a horse but you can't ride them in the game.
- new features of the enhanced edition - 100+ improvements and fixes, 4 hours of new gameplay, 33 minutes of new cinematics, new intro and outro. release on 17th april.
- they're showing a live gameplay demo of the 360 version, narrated by some youtube celebrity
- now they're showing some footage of new content that comes in act 3.
- footage of this live demo will be available in hd for download later.
- 360 version will have the game on 2 dvds, 1 dvd for soundtrack, game manual, map, game guide.
- something i just noticed, which hasn't been mentioned in the stream. the witcher 1 is now steamplay enabled so you have both the pc/mac versions of the game if you own it on steam. (http://store.steampowered.com/app/20...medium=twitter)
- the enhanced edition will be free on pc obviously, and it will be 10gb+. they will be offering preloads of the enhanced edition patch, not sure if this will work for the steam version.
- they will be giving away 1000 reviews of the x360 version. there's a site you can register at and ask for one and they'll choose who to send them to.
- the witcher 1 has sold 2.2 million units.
- witcher 1 trailer. they just announced the mac version. exclusive to steam. steam contributed 350,000 sales of the witcher 1.
- interactive digital witcher comics coming to iOS, free, april 17th.
- every customer of the witcher 2 will get a backup copy of the game at gog.com, regardless of where you bought it. available april 17.
-
new gog.com features being talked about. community wishlist, new downloader, new indie games coming.
- premium versions of ubisoft games - assassins creed and heroes 5 to start. regular price is 19.99$ each, but you can get both for 19.99$ for the next week.
- botanicula pre-order coming to gog, regular price 10$, pre-order offer 10% off.
- fallout is free on gog.com for the next 48 hours.

What really troubles me is that they had previously announced that they had sold 1.1 million units in 2011. And today they say that they've sold 1.1 million units to this date. Don't know when they were lying about their sales

Thanks. I am actually watching it without volume and am able to get the most of the info because they were using slides.

1.1 million sold for a PC game with no DRM on gog and retail versions is not bad.
