Default Abit: NF7-S V2.0 or AN7

Hi, just wondering that which one of the motherboards mentioned above is better for overclocking? Thanks

I've had great luck with my AN7. It can hit very high FSB speeds with a modded BIOS flash. I've had mine stable at 240FSB (480DDR). I recently lost my water cooling and now have to clock my CPU a little slower, but my FSB is still set at a very respectable 233MHz.

Hay Ristogod, I read about your thread the other day regarding your fried 9800, and that was some bad luck man seriously.

For the AN7, is stock bios overclock ok? and what kind of ram are you using? 240FSB is pretty rock! and are they running at tight timming? Thanks man and wish you better luck from now on.

Stock BIOS would allow me to overclock to 2.5GHz 12.5x200. I could not get my FSB above 200 though using stock BIOS. Using the modded BIOS, I was instantly able to go higher.

My memory is Geil PC4000 DDR500 2.5-4-4-8. However, if you're buying new RAM, get some Crucial Ballistix or OCZ Platinum Revision 2. Both of those can do 2-2-2-5. With an AN7, modded BIOS, great cooling solution (don't recommend water cooling ), and killer RAM, you'll have so much overclock room, it'll be rediculous.

If you need to see the link for the AN7 BIOS, let me know.

ristgood got himself a very good overclock, so its proof with a bit of work it has the ability. but the NF7 is long time legend, very similar they are on paper bar the uGuru which makes life easier(e.g. BIOS presets u can revert to).
i think there not much diff on price these days between them so AN7 seems a worthy buy.
u wont hear anything bad about NF7 ,but some reviews sites have not liked the AN7, as ristgood state, he was stuck at 200fsb(which is its guarenteed max fsb) until he flashed,so like all things overclocking, its a tiny gamble and a wait'n'see type situation, both are great anyhow, not much init.
