Unhappy nolf problem

I had a voodoo 3 a long time ago and when played nolf (no one lives for ever) i could see fog and could not see the sides and the bottom of sky box.

now i have a radeon 64 sdr and I get no fog and see that ugly sky box on the sides in some of the levels.

One example is the BLIZZARD map. When played on voodoo 3, the fog wont let me use the sniper rifle for long distances, but with radeon i can, cause there is no fog. I know that's a good thing but when playing the single player, its different.

anybody have any advice?

by the way fog is turned on in the registry for the radeon.

thanks.

Can you post some system specs? What Radeon drivers are you using?

my system specs:
PIII 600/133 @ 660/147
radeon 64 sdr at 167 Mhz 7075 driver (supported)
192 ram at cas 3

another thing that may help: under folder atidxhal in the registry, i have only two options, 1) {default} value not set, and 2) EnableWaitUntilldxTriList2 "1"

I have nothing else such as disable fog, disable hyper-z etc.

I see you posted another time in this forum for the PCI Radeon...

http://rage3d.com/board/showthread.p...light=nolf+fog

Some people said there is no fog in NOLF. Tweakers and registry settings are bad news in my experience. I only experienced problems with the tweakers on my system. If I were you, I'd get rid of the tweakers and clean your registry out and reinstall as per this clean install guide...

http://rage3d.com/board/showthread.p...+clean+install

But first, I would try Quake3 or some other game to test your fogging capabilities, you know. If other games pimp fog well then perhaps it's a setting in NOLF. If you mail me NOLF I'll be happy to test it on my system. ;-]

I can get fog working in NOLF by enabling 'Table Fog' using a tweaker (no need to enable 'W Fog' or 'Z Fog' - these might cause problems in some games). I think TABLE fog is safe to enable, and I haven't seen it screw with any other game yet (unlike some other tweak settings).

(EDIT) ...I just actually READ your post, and you say you have fog enabled in the registry. Is it the right one? You might have to risk a tweaker so the tweak goes in at the right place in the registry.

is this the problem?

under <HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ATI Technologies\Driver\xxxx\atidxhal> in the registry where xxxx is 0000, i have only two options,

1) {default}value not set, and
2) EnableWaitUntilldxTriList2 "1"

I have NOTHING ELSE such as disable fog, AntiAlias, DisableHierarchicalZ, disable hyper-z etc. Where are all those things gone from the registry?????

I have no tweaker installed either.
and have 7075 drivers.

So, fog is not enabled unless you enable it in the registry? I have fog in every game without tweakers or mucking in the registry, including NOLF.
