Radeon X1650 Qs.

2 months ago I installed a used Radeon x1650 into my E machine that is using windows XP pro with service pack 3. I have noticed no real improvement in graphic speed or in any other areas, over what I experienced using my 'on board graphics',
Is there a user interface that I can make appear on my monitor at will? and Would this interface allow me to tweak the card? and also indicate to me that the card is actually working properly ? and properly with the M. Board?
Device manager shows there to be no issues or problems with the card.

You installed the card but not the Catalyst drivers suite.

Download and install (run as admin) Catalyst Software suite from this page. (Cat 10.2 for Radeon X1xxx / XP 32-bit).

Thanks for pointing out my mistake! SO now I have downloaded the catalyst suit. In attempting to install it, I am now getting a warning that, this suit has not passed windows logo testing, and thus may impair or destabilize my system. ..!.. I'm now concerned. So I have not proceeded with the installation. Waiting on your instructions and assurance that this ATi installation will be just fine.

Ignore the warning it will be fine, if you're super paranoid do a system backup before installing the drivers. Don't expect wonders from this card though, it's very old.

Indeed it is merely a standard Windows warning because the driver suite is not WHQL logo'd. Click "Install anyway"; it is perfectly allright.

Backup before installing drivers is always a good idea, it is one of the reasons System Restore exists, so you might as well use it.

an update. The catalyst is now installed, and no issues and all is well. Hurray! I extend my thanks to each of you!

Now to learn what I need to do using the catalyst, to have the card perform at its best.

Great, congratulations!

Note that on each page (or window) you open in CCC, there's always that questionmark in top-right corner (under the [preferences] button), when you click that, you get info about the settings on the page (window) you're just looking at.
