Default Update Skyrim or hold off playing for next patch?

For those of you who are playing the game would you recommend waiting for the next patch before starting a new campaign or is it ok to go with 1.2?

I played for quite a while, then got a little bored and messed around with the console for items/gold etc.....

Just now I deleted my saves and will return to the game at a later date, when the mod community get their hands on this game, and the drivers mature I will enjoy it a great deal more

You can start now.

Grab the 4gb exe to fix the CTDs and the skse to fix the resistance bug, and you're good to go.

Look in the Skyrim thread for links and details.

Keep shadows on high (not ultra) for better performance and not much difference in IQ.

I've hit a couple bugs, but honestly, this is still game of the year for me.

This.

A total of approx. 90 hours played over 2 toons, i've crashed to desktop twice so far and that was it. Keep in mind that I've not updated the game to 1.2 however

I'm just messing around with the game right now. I load up the same save each time I play, pick a direction to walk in, keep going till I hit a dungeon, fight my way through it, and then call it quits.

I'm going to wait for the next patch before starting a proper playthrough.

So for now, as I've read, update to 1.1 and wait for 1.3. Thanks for all the feedback.

On my Phenom2/GTX 460 rig, I have had virtually no issues except for one quest where this idiot didn't acknowledge that I paid his bail, and the game is fantastic.

Based on the reading and the Skyrim thread around here, my guess would be it's destroying everyone else's computers.

The only thing really broken aside from a few quests is resistances. Since resistances don't matter that much for many levels, there's no point in waiting. The patch to fix resistances is suppose to come out this week.

No reason at all to wait.

I've played at least 50 hours; no issues at all once I disabled auto-save. Unless you are experiencing your own issues I don't see any reason to avoid the game.

The only bug I have encountered in 35 hours played is watching a person moonwalk through a fence to then be leaning on it once they got to the other side. Other then that the game has run perfect 0 CTD I haven't even used the ram mod sense after the first patch ruined the first one I put in prior to my initial startup.

Nah, "toon" was around way before WoW, I remember people using it in Everquest.

The most likely (but not verifiable) explanation I've seen for it's origin is that it actually came from graphical IRC clients where people were represented by cartoon avatars - and from there spread into MMO terminology.

It's a shortening of the term "cartoon avatar" which was coined ten or so years ago in reference (originally) to chat programs that used avatars to represent people. It carried over into MMOs easily due to their social nature.

Toon shmoon. It's "PC" for Player Character.

I got up to level 35 as a destructo-mage and found the game impossibly hard as a specialist due to unbalanced magic so I decided to start over. I'm already up to level 20 as a Redguard one-handed light armor dude that can also shoot a bow decently and heal himself and I haven't done hardly any of the main quest yet, nor have I explored much of the map.

My saving grace was coming across Illia by luck, an ice mage with a penchant for fireball staves. She's still the only reason I survive Deathlords and the like.

Where did you find Illia?

And how tf do you encounter sidequests? I friggin click every named npc hoping they have a quest just to notice that they just have to ramble.

Some you can also find by reading books. Not sure if there is a monetary value associated with quest books?
