What the heck is this? 360 controller mod?

I recently purchased some used xbox360 controllers, as well as some replacement thumbsticks from china. As I was opening them up to replace the sticks, I found that one of them has been modded.

The mod looks very professionally done. There doesn't seem to be any wiring that could lead to additional buttons or flippers. It seems like alot of work to be a basic repair. Any idea what this could be?

Maybe for a special button combination or auto-fire... possibly for cheating.

Yup, looks very similar, although with some differences. Mine seems to be leveraging the sync button rather than adding a new button at the bottom. Also mine has wires going to all 4 of the face buttons instead of just 2. Mine also seems to be more professional.
