I like that budget Intel Pentium...kick ass little chip. Nice to see AMD on that list as well for something other than budget stuff.

I can't see any reason to buy a x99 over AMD a this point today unless you are going cfx/sli and there is less and less reason for that with the 1080 ti and nv's sli crap sli support lately .

or you have money coming out of the wazoo and just need the e-peen

and with x299 coming soon
question is will intel price it nuts again

and what will AMD's Ryzen 12 and 16 core do and be priced at since they also will have more than enough pcie lanes for cfx/sli

Yeah, they are kickass little chips, especially when the unlocked i3, which is virtually identical, sells for like twice the price Intel really needs to figure out their market segmentation now that Ryzen is here. Oh, and anything less than 4 threads needs to disappear. Unless they can clock to like 10GHz or something, that's a different story.

They can't do it in the old way...The market segmentation for them is dead. Also intel kinda slept for many years without too much incentive to change so it will be a tough time to get out of their carapace now.

I can't take that article seriously with statements like "The G4560 is arguably the only good thing to come out of Intel’s 7th generation Kaby Lake series ". Cuz, ya know, the 7700K is a complete garbage CPU

Well, he did say arguably. To be fair, I can sort of see the argument for it. Personally I'd probably add the 7700K and probably even the 7600K as being good improvements since you can get 500-600 MHz more out of them. However, by the standards of earlier decades a 10-15% improvement in performance is pretty meh. Also, that's no better than what we've seen in some previous generations which got there with better IPC instead.

Going down to the rest of the line-up it's even worse since they are locked and Intel provided all of a 5% increase in clock speed. So from that standpoint the 7000 series looks pretty crappy.
