Whether its "worth" the asking price is subjective depending on your tastes.

If you think its just a remake/rehash of an old game and offers nothing really new except updated graphics and game mechanics then probably no. If you're a huge fan of the series, want to see a return to the survival horror style, and can appreciate the effort Capcom put into to this rather than simply a cleaned up remaster then yes.

Personally I think they're asking too much at $60, but since you can get it cheaper and I want to support Capcom to keep them working on games, I'm going to recommend people to get this.

I haven't played RE2 so its pretty good value for me. The remake seems to be quite comprehensive in that you have a perspective change and a lot of the levels have significant changes from what I've read.

One could also argue that a lot of those types of games are bloated with a lot of pointless busy work, though.

There's something to be said for a nice short and efficient game length especially for adults with family and work. For narrative driven single player games I'm at the point in my life where I want my games in the 10-20 hour range. BTW, RE2 will be longer than 6 hours to do everything. Not sure where you're getting that.

Everything you named is padded with a bunch of boring bullshit that artifically extends the game with shitty fetch quests. RDR2 after the intro was awful and I dont understand why people rate it so highly. Graphically/visually it is really pretty though, but no substance.

So I saw more than one enemy and a couple of guns. I agree that I would not pay $60 for this but clearly there are limitation as a "remake/remaster".

A well paced 10 hour game can be far better than a 100 hour game. If the story, controls, and gameplay work, what is wrong with it? Not everything has to be open world fetch quests. Does no one remember that one of the original PlayStation game had unlocks for beating the game in one sitting without saving?

Pretty much what Jay says. Quality games that aren't that long that take a ton of time to make selling lower because of their lenght. I far prefer a single player game like this without the padding instead of rdr/ac/etc. But a lot of people don't wanna shell out money for games like this so we get them less and less sadly. So when a game like this does come out I fully support it.

We are in agreement. I will say that ACdyssey is 100 hours of great fun.

Max Payne was around 5 hours. Great game.

Nothing wrong with a 10hr game. The Dead Space games were in the 10-15 range and they were plenty long enough.

Forget it, you can't convince them.

If you don't have the money, that's fine, I don't either, I miss on a ton of games every year, but to try to put the blame on RE2 is disingenuous. You can't compare Spiderman, Red Dead 2 and other open world games to it... honestly the BULK of those games tens to be quite bland/insipid and only the main storyline is truly worthy. They are great games but they are simply not comparable. One is a self-service buffet and the other is the meal someone prepared with a very specific intent. Both are freaking great, but they are not the same.

There's something to be said about the worthyness of a properly guided, rich, thick game like RE2 which open world games just don't really offer.

This is why single player (and in particular, horror) games are dying. You can't realistically have a compelling narrative experience for 100 hours. It's just not going to happen.

And the argument that it's "just" a remake is ****ing laughable. People are being either purposefully deceitful or ignorant when arguing this point. The amount of work on a remake like this (which changes the story, level layouts, and rebuilds EVERYTHING else) is the SAME as any other full title. Anyone with a modicum of game design knowledge would know this. The only thing they are riding on is the RE2 brand, that's it.
