Yeah this is still a nope. Brand new build with everything I want, and just not. worth. the frustration.

I'd be interested to know what % of players actually beat the content I'm in now. It just isn't worth it.

So, what level does the Underworld start at? Just a big ol ??? right now.


Also, took me way too long to get a damn Ethereal fist. Kusarigama were dropping like crazy, but they finally made the mistake of dropping a singular Ethereal fist. It allowed me to soul match the fist I had been using to the 190 level and they gave me enough Divines I was instantly able to bring it back up to the top + level available to me. THE FOOLS! Also had a Grace inheritance so it went from Susano to Ninigi. Which, to be fair, wasn't a big loss at this moment cause I have to can the rest of my equipment for the time being. Also, it seems like it's just kind of an upgraded Susano anyways. I just hope an Increased Dodge Range set of boots drops so I can trade up. I've grown too used to Increased Dodge Range and Increased Dodge Invincibility.

You should be able to go into the underworld right now. Look above the twilight missions and there ought to be another icon there...

Graces are really a mixed bag. If you go for a "mutt" build, you'll wind up with high life (using the yakasani magatama) but you miss out on some stellar damage stacks.

One thing I can recommend is getting that AA toughness using a max stamina scroll - they hit really hard in the underworld, but you also get lapis lazuli - collect enough and there's a merchant at the entrance that lets you upgrade the level of + drops, % of ethereal that drops etc, and it carries over into the main game.

I'm actually progressing now, but man, the next boss I have to get through is Tate Eboshi, and I royally hate that fight. Vanilla Tate in the main game is annoying, x that by 12 in the underworld, then double that in the depths.

But the depths shift every day for a new mission, so I may just wait.

I have a solid Onmyo warrior set now, good untouched magic and doing massive purity damage with the phoenix wing. Every onmyo shot that connects gives me about 20% anima, so spamming yokai abilities too. And it's still brutal

The scrolls you collect will make a massive difference in survivability. Highly recommended

edit: It seems to me the underworld starts at 750ish and just gets harder. Some of the levels are so much worse than the boss at the end lol....

Gotcha, yeah. I just YOLOd the first floor and got through with only minor issues. Da purple Yoki hit hard. Then again most do cause I'm still rocking three pieces of 180 gear. Haven't found good replacements yet. Might just have to go with "closest" and try to temper the traits I'm looking for. I'm wondering if it's a kind of level synch cause it was all about what I was fighting in the first mission in terms of difficulty and the drops were about the same as well.

So bonuses are good for even out of Underworld with the lapis? Interesting. Might have to go back into it to talk to the vendor real fast.

I'm still rocking my Demon Parade scroll that gave me extended dodge invul. Got a few that are interesting, but looking at the level and the bosses that are contained I'm passing on them for now.

Now to sift through my equipment. Or go do something that isn't Nioh.

Just an FYI, this game has the same treasure rooms the first game has, spawning randomly after each underworld level. Out of the 108 underworld floors and ?? attempts at the depths, I've probably had it spawn 12ish times. It's a great loot grab

Good to know. I never hit that far in the first game to actually attempt the depths. Never did the DLC or any NG+. Think I tried the first DLC right off the bat to get back into things after beating the game once and the boss would just 1 hit KO me. So I stopped playing.


Also, had not idea how to even go to next level my first floor. Missed the Kodama and just thought you had to end mission. Which is OK. Now I just proceed to next floor then Branch my way out so I don't miss anything.


Finally tried out Stone of Penance. Got a Divine Yata Mirror and decided to toss it on the Altar to bring it up to Ethereal to replace my lvl 180 Mirror (Love being able to bounce projectiles back, and the high + to luck is nice). Redid the first two levels of the Underworld and brought the Stone up to +3 by the end of the Floor 2 Boss. Was nice. Absolutely filled my item box though, so now I get to slog through that. Just gotta tag items that have inheritables before I sell/disassemble it all.


Wasn't even paying attention and just saw that I have like a straight 20% dmg reduction right now before Armor reduction and Elemental reduction even come into play. Have the 5% from Susano, the 6% from Ninigi, and from Tatenashi I have another 3% with a 5.4% on the garbo green chest piece I'm wearing just to activate the 3 piece Tatenashi set. I'm just an angry ball of fists right now. I wonder just how high I could push that number if I get lucky rolls on other pieces of equipment, equip a couple choice Guardian Spirits with certain Soul Cores. I'm sure you could push 50+ with the right gear.


In other words. Loot in this game is insane.

Oh yeah damage stacks insane in this game. And don't forget what you get from your clan.

I've been really struggling about midway through the depths, then realized I'm carrying a +9 stone of penance. wtf. No wonder it hurt so badly lol.

If you're going for certain graces (now that I know you didn't do this in the first game) graces in the underworld are locked to certain floors. A gent on Reddit did a nice loot table to follow.

And once you get to the depths, there are some really insane loots/graces that aren't anywhere else in the game.

Oh, I fell back on my Tonfa again and now you're making me want to use the really sweet set of claws I have in my inventory lol.

Late game balance, primarily in the depths is just screwed.

I did 4 Scrolls of the Nioh this morning, in about 10 minutes. Absolutely destroyed everything as if they were Dream of the Samurai level.

Go into a boss (with ALL the perks) on a depths of the underworld mission and I can barely survive.

Example: Ancient Nyotengu in the late underworld, I think it was around floor 100ish - pretty much wrecked her.

Floor 1 in the depths - haven't been able to beat her yet.

It doesn't make sense.
