Default Exynos GPU tests

I only have a LG 2x nvidia tegra phone. And sadly the Exynos gpu is so much faster in GLBenchmark. Tegra 2 is outdated and totally getting owned in 3d benchmark
I would say the Tegra 2 gpu is an old tech which is one year + old already, and Exynos is really just so much faster. And if you are planning to buy a tegra 2 Mobile Device. might as well just get SGS2 with Exynos cpu not Tegra version. it will be very future proof.
However, i dont' think we will see anything that pushes the SGS2 GPU to the max within A year or more(as you might know by now Android device still doesn't have much games at all). so by the time we have games that require such hardware and performance, we will have a tegra 3, or even a psp2. But none the less, Exynos is really the fastest GPU and CPU for mobile device todate.

Please note that SGS2 Exynos is capped at 60FPS , so for benchmark result with almost 60fps , it should really be much higher than that

This is my Own result on LG 2x Tegra vs some one with a SGS2 Exynos device.
i would say Tegra 2 looks outdated, and slow comparing to exynos. I am a tegra 2 owner for only 3 weeks, this isn't very fun to watch lol

While those are great scores, GLBenchmark still isn't fully compatible with the Tegra 2 SOC. It's obvious that it works for the PowerVR GPU's, just look at the scores, but when tests that the Tegra 2 obviously supports can't even run, well, there's something not right. Tegra 2's gpu is plenty beefy enough, just look at the caliber of games in TegraZone.

no one can stay ahead of the curve with these things man... not unless one is rich enough to change phones every few weeks. best be happy with what you have... the optimus 2x is a pretty awesome phone, and it will remain so no matter how much better other phones coming out are.

Another thing to keep in mind wc, I score higher on Quadrant with just an overclock and kernel optimizations(and no IO hack) than the Galaxy SII and I have a higher res screen and a 60fps cap(which effects one of the 3d benchmarks). I score close to the same as the Galaxy SII when I'm at 1ghz, and I still have the higher res screen. If you're only using one benchmark to compare then take said comparison with a grain of salt.

Until you have something that can use that extra horsepower, I don't see why anyone should care. Fragmentation being what it is, development is still focused on the largest install base and bleeding edge hardware will always be marginal. spindoctor's right, with new phone hardware coming out every few months that leapfrogs previous hardware, there's not much point in caring about benchmarks.

interestingly i read some info from xda that tegra2 chip is made like a pc graphic chip, so until we see developer utilize graphic on tegra like on pc, we won't see the true performance of the chip. However, i dont' know is that true or not, but i think tegra 3 will be so much better then tegra 2anyways.

One thing i would like to know is tegra 2 cpu the same as exynos??

or are they different in some way??

They are both based on the ARM cortex a9 core. Other than that they are different.

Random benchmarks are random. Last time I checked if you look at raw specified performance, the Tegra 2 (Optimus 2X) should dominate the SGX543 (Ipad 2) and the Mali-400 (Galaxy S2) should be dominated by both. But if one compare gl benchmarks, the SGX543 destroys the Mali-400, which in turn destroy the Tegra 2. What?

I'd rather see a game and have it compared side by side with an fps counter. At least if we're talking 3D. My use of a phone is 80% browser - I value CPU power.

Nordic hardware has quite extensive testing between the Tegra 2 and Exynos here:

Ram and storage
Browsing
CPU
3D and gaming
Multitasking

Note that the article is in Swedish, but the actual performance charts are in English.

They bring up the issue Elysian mentioned, where the phone is vsynced to 60hz, where Optimus X2 syncs to 75hz.
That kinda colors any benchmarks where the GPUs outperform the tests and hit their vsync limits.

Seems like this happens in pretty much all the tests, although in GLbenchmark Pro Exynos is indeed capping out at 60 but the Tegra2 isnt getting high enough to be capped.
They also mention that the result in SmartBench may also be a result due to this, where it´ll cap out at 60 while the Tegra2 can run as high as 75fps.
