Default Pan's Labyrinth - What an awesome movie.

I went to the movies yesterday and watched this film:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457430/

Its an awesome movie and a great fantasy story. Beware though its very crude, violent and cruel. It is also absolutely not for everyone. I recommend it.

Funny! Yesterday I posted this: http://www.rage3d.com/board/showpost...8&postcount=44
in a thread about good films, and today I ran into your thread!

I totally agree with you. I saw it last week, and what an excellent movie!

So it probably wouldn't be a good idea to watch it with my six-year old daughter then?

Unless you want her to look how a guy gets his head smashed with a bottle... then no.

Do they have a verison of this movie in English or just Spanish with English subtitles?

Reviews have been great.

Not sure if they have a dubbed version but it would ruin the movie had it been dubbed. I cant imagine the Captain speaking english hehe. I have the dvdscr and yes its a pretty violent movie, but that adds to the flavour.

Thought it was good, tho I was a bit disapointed as the trailer had given me the impression that it was more fantasy and stuff..

It is, its just that (just as the trailer explains) its more of an adult fantasy movie. Fairies, pans etc all are kinda "twisted" to a more mature way. And I loved the end when they leave us with the possibility of the child .

Yeah well what I meant is the trailer had almost only the fantasy bits in it. (as I recall it)
While the movie plays out in quite a large portion outside of that, it was a bit more "serious" or what you can call it, then I had expected hehe..
But it was still good, I just wasnt prepared for it, thought it was a somewhat lighter film.

Well if anyone wants to play the little melody with their piano or what ever, the notes are:

EDCDEFE EDCDEFD DCBCDEDEF. At least a part from it. I just really liked it and I had to transcribe it .

Saw it this morning. Good movie (even though I was forced to read ).

That incident near the beginning of the movie with the bottle and that guys face sure gets rid of the idea that it's a kids movie real quick.

Indeed. It was more like 70% war drama and 30% fantasy, but I loved it. I also happen to speak Spanish, so no need to do any readin'

for the most part, it's a "different" kind of movie than the ones i'm used to.
they should have cast a girl who is better at acting in the main role tho.

it's not really a "dark fairytale" at all, more like a war movie but with a very slight fantasy angle to it.

i see it as a psychological-fantasy movie in the sense that she imagined everything to escape from the hard times she's going through.. especially at the end when she sees her parents.. with a baby..? that just screams hallucination :P

Is this like a remake from the 80's movie with David Bowie?
