Question Which to bring back?

Hi there guys + gals,

Hope you can advise me!
I'm about to self build my next pc for the first time and have decided on the parts only the gfx card is still to be decided on.I live in the UK but my wife is going to Dallas at the start of July so im going to get her cousin to buy me a card and she can bring it back saving me a pretty penny
Now i was going to get a tyan Tachyon G9700 PRO or cough up for a 9800 pro(dunno which make) but not living in the states wheres the best place to buy online(stateside) and should i pay the extra for a 9800 pro?

Thanks in advance,

Nicky

P.s. can u tell i'm a tight Scotsman

P.p.s. soz Grace

Hi there guy,
Umm..not really, but hello.

In my opinion, the 9700pro is a lot better bang for the back for now. It's enough cheaper than the 9800pro and has all the performance anyone would need for some time. However, the Tyan is surely one of the 3 best 9700pro cards, but I also think it's the most expensive! If you don't do wicked overclocking or plan to keep it for more than 3-4 years, then I think the cheapest 9700pro of a respectable company that you can find will suit you just fine. The Sapphire cards for instance.

Hahah egghead. I think he DOES mean

www.newegg.com

As for deciding between the R9700PRO and the R9800PRO, it depends on the price difference. I have seen some differences as much as $100 so I would rather choose the R9700PRO and put the $100 to a better processor or more/better memory.

R9800PRO is pretty much a speed bump to the R9700PRO anyways -- right? Also, I don't really trust Crucial's video cards let alone any other "Powered by ATI" cards. If I buy ATI cards, I buy "Built by ATI" cards.

Anyway.. cough up and get a 9800p..

However, 9700p is the best for price/perf high end card rite now.
