Exclamation New Help Flashing/Modding Bios for 4870

Hi all,

I've read the sticky and posted in it. I could use some help re-flashing my 4870.
Some background info.

My 4870 512MB (Sapphire) was bought in the first week of release. Recently, I've been suffering a lot of random crashes, BSODS, and restarts.

I read in the AMD forums that sapphire came out with a new 4870 bios that fixed a lot of the BSOD issues with the 4870.

I've tried using winflash and atiflash to flash this BIOS onto my 4870. Although I have an issue, as the P/N and Company code don't match, and thus couldn't load it onto my card. Apparently, my board is an ATI board, rather than the sapphire board.. I've tried modding the released sapphire bios and successfully flashed my bios with this one, but I am experiencing the same issues, random resets and BSOD. Can anyone with experience in flashing 4870 bios's help?

With RBE bios editor , in the first screen you can change the Vendor ID for any Bios ....

But yes , check if you have the newest bios for your motherboard and if it still BSOD... disable any fancy option like '' Turbo mode or performance '' ...if you overclock be sure the frequency of the PCIE is locked at 100Mhz for stability.

Yes Ex-PM @ CC haha, moved to an OEM now.

My Mobo isn't clocked. Newest Bios.
These setting are identical to when I was running 2 x 3870's in X-fire and it was stable then. The only difference since then is the OS - HDD, which is now Solid State and OS, which is now Vista Ulti 64.
I'll try redo redo'ing my bios settings tonight.

The games it crashes is are L4D, Heroes of Newerth (Beta), and just randomly sometimes when I'm streaming video.

my most common crashes were l4d & idling

eventually i turned off that stupid feature called 'load line calibration', which disables load vdroop on the cpu (which makes no sense, that is part of intel's spec! anand has more info, including a sentence that says 'we were scratching our heads when our system was 24h prime95 stable, yet bsods when idle')
