Some of the responses on here....

People...you can admire qualities in other men. That doesn't mean your gay. And if you think it will well maybe...and just hear me out here...MAYBE you were kinda leaning that way already and your afraid to make the leap?

That being said I think being Timothy Olyphant would be pretty ****in cool.

I think there's a big difference between the implications of a man-crush, and simply enjoying watching, listening to, or respecting a particular actor, comedian, athlete, scientist, etc.

Well I read the "I don't want to bang him..." and figured he used the word crush the wrong way.

People responded to as a sexual thing and I didn't read it that way.

I have a few straight female friends that have crushes on other women at their jobs. It's not sexual it's just someone that like to be around.

I think of it that way or teen girls when it involves some celebrity.

Crush has always meant sexual fantasy. Is this something new that millennials have changed the way this word is used?

I am so out of the loop and last time I used the word crush must’ve been in grade 8 or something.

I tried to give the benefit of the doubt too, but he set the context pretty clearly with the first line...

Sexual?

I've never really thought it involved sex.

I don't think I have ever used the word at all. I don't think I have ever felt that way about someone.

It's either:

"She's cool. I'd like to spend time with her and see how it feels to put my penis in her vagina."

Or

"She's a giant ****ing bitch. I want to see how it feels to put my penis in her vagina and then leave."

Yes, but civil people just used the word crush instead.

Man-crush, Bruce Willis. Just seems like a guy being himself, he's not hot/sexy/tall/dark/handsome yet carries an unassuming self-assurance about himself, unusual in a shorter guy too.

Girl crush... I haven't a clue. I've sat here for five minutes trying to think of someone, and I got nothing.

Well, we have literally been joking about mansechs since the early 2000s.

Does that mean we've been banging each other? Or long the day we can have a massive Rage gangbang?

Guys, I mean other guys who have traits you admire. You can want to be like James Bond, and think he's a cool character. Does that mean you're gay because of it?

Of course not. "On the topic of gay" just made it a little difficult to know if that's what you meant or not...

OT my list of men I admire is pretty short. And with people being how people can be, it would probably get even shorter if I met some of them. What I mean is that I can have an idea of how and who I think someone is, and then be disappointed when I meet the person. It's best to not have any expectations for me.

Gotcha

I totally see why you admire so little people too.

The more I age, the more I see how many individuals are self-absorbed, greedy douchebags. Douchebags who wouldn't think twice about stealing everything from you (your money, your status, your family) if they can get away with it.

Like how I admired celebrities like Kelsey Grammar. Ended up the dude was a pretentious douche who doesn't know squat about loyalty. Strangely enough, much like Frasier. Which still happens to be my favorite show, but heck, it was still friggin' disappointing.

Humanity can suck it for all I care.

I wouldn't go quite as far as your last line there In spite of how things look there are some good folks out there...

I think it's healthy to have realistic ideals to shoot for, and sometimes we might not know what we're missing unless we see it in someone else. I just believe in being careful about who I admire, and never put any person on a pedestal.

I think liking an attribute of a person and learning from it is OK. However, having an obsession especially sexual in nature (infatuation/crush) is going a bit far. That means you want that person’s wang in the wrong holes. I can totally see how Chuck can have that bias but still thinking everyone on a public forum feels the same is a bit much. I think.

We do talk a lot about gays etc. but I think only real person who came out of the closet on that front was g-a-m-e and maybe that Australian doctor (who I thought believed he was gay but never quite shared his escapades with us).

Chuck are you Bi? Is this the reason that you are unable to keep a relationship for long? Do you have crush on men, routinely?

Is that spoiler directed at me? Oddly enough, my mother is a good example of a person with some great traits to emulate. She's 78, had a hard life, is living with stage 4 cancer (chemo every 4 weeks still) with little hope of remission,, and yet she never ever complains. And always has a smile and a really bad joke. She's a strong human being.

I don't know if chuck is bi or not, but it's not really important (if the r3d innuendos can be bypassed for a few posts) in light of the topic. Being able to respect another persons good qualities is a good quality in and of itself imo.

lol it wasn’t directed at you. I just put that random crap. I will remove it so you don’t feel offended.

As I said I have no problem liking someone but having a man crush seems to be taking it too far. I don’t care what Chuck feels either. It is his choice but the question does come across as very confusing in this thread. I also assume by default that people are good. Doesn’t mean that I have a crush on them.

Not offended at all KAC I knw where I'm posting lol. /not_personal

I'm not a fan of using "crush" either...but I've heard the phrase used before. Usually something like having a man crush on that awesome pickup truck or car...something like that.

Guys, I have no desire for sausages

https://www.urbandictionary.com/defi...?term=mancrush

I see how Ragers might mistake my low self-esteem and finding respect for homosexuals to wanting to get pegged, but dude, no offense to actual gays here but that just doesn't feel right for me.

KAC, I am not even mad at you being condescending at times (mostly about women and homosexuals) but it's your culture, your upbringing. Sorry if I am being too blunt but forcing one's culture and beliefs on others is one of the things that causes so much conflict and death in the world, and I don't want any of that.

Don't get me wrong though. This isn't me saying I hate you or anything. Somehow I actually find you kinda cool, go figure.

There were times in my teens when I wondered if I was bi because I never had the strength to ask girls out, but the thought of being with another man never sit right with me. I can now totally respect how others have different preferences, but as I said above, nope. As for my relationships, I have to confess. Before I met my girlfriend, I was never in a genuine long-term relationship. I always had a heart attack whenever I tried to approach girls I was attracted to, and when I got dates, they were incredibly one sided and most of them were just stringing me along. There were girls I dated for 1-2 years, but they never intended to be with me. There were women (who I had the hots for years) who found me attractive, but my self-esteem/anxiety always got in the way. The reason me and my girlfriend fell for each other so quickly was because everything came so natural to me when we dated and clicked the moment we met. She was seriously hurt from a past relationship, but my perseverance and dedication to her ultimately won her over.

Having said that, I see what you guys mean. It's ok to appreciate traits of other people, but putting celebrities on a pedestal is rather too much.
