I wonder if the justice department is really going to allow Sunder to CEO both Google & it's parent company. Seems like it compromises the separation to a huge degree.

I was trying to think what search engine I was using before the advent of Google. Was there one called Blue Mountain or something? I use DuckDuckGo these days.

I think I used Excite and AltaVista.

I use Google unless it's political then I use DDG because Google absolutely does sensor searches.

DDG also doesn't track your every move and sell your information to advertisers. Google makes its billions by gathering data on you and monetizing it. I've stopped using Chrome or Google search because of that.

Duckduckgo gives better search results for items that have a political tone. No biased algorythms putting certain results first, just the raw data. They also don't spy on you either and I've been using them more and more lately.

Actually makes me wonder how they fund themselves.

So weird, my the messages app on my phone is built by Google, and built into the ROM. I turned off the ability for it to scan and send details of my usage home. I get nag prompts at least once a day it seems saying how I'm being a horrific person for not helping better the app for everyone.

Oh and just for the icing on the cake, it default turns on letting Google assistant read every thing I send it recieved to give 'helpful' suggestions... Geez... We really need some opt-in by default legislation.

I swear Google is a bigger security risk than Huawei ever will be.
