It's a copy/paste from a security website that randomized wi-fi passwords

It's actually pretty easy to enter when you have a keyboard, not so on a phone. Weird thing is that I never had a problem entering it in my Radar 4G (Win 7.5 phone) nor my gf's Galaxy Q. Oh well, all is well for now

Facebook Messenger is now available to the public! I just tried it. The notifications were so instantly! How nice is that? Pretty cool. It works better than Facebook chat in integration OS.

WP8 is awesome, so much potential. If only it had come out a year or two earlier and with a few more features

But there is still hope

I love my 1020, last phone I'll own (unless it breaks )

Don't get the hate... but then again I'm not a power user. I'm satisfied with WP8, would have liked to be merged with RT (isn't in the plans ?) so I'd be able to use the same apps / games I've bought with my RT tablet.

I just recently picked up the Nokia Lumia Icon and I think its an amazing phone. The screen on it is so crystal clear. The phone feels so solidly built. Of course the camera is amazing. I get about 2 days worth of battery life out of it and that includes streaming music and audio books all day. It's pretty much the perfect phone for me.

I got into the windows phone game when my S3 broke and I bought a Nokia Lumia 520 to replace it since it was so cheap. I was surprised to find that it ran smoother than the S3 did. I'm not a huge app user so that wasnt much of an issue for me.

Hey Sazar, do you know if they plan to includes the brightness slider feature in the future? I definitely really need this feature. At night time. I always turn on automatic because it is more dimmer than low, but I cannot control it due to its automatic which is it was trying to adjusting the brightness once and it drained the battery life. I don't like it. Look at iPhone. It lets you to control the screen brightness all the way to a very, very dim. For instance, you are sitting while you're at church with lights off. This is exactly what I wanted for.

Like the phone but issues I have with Win Phone 8 so far are

i) I can't use my VPN

ii) Even though I've set the phone to vibrate when I launch a game there's still sound. It's annoying as hell.

iii)Lack of battery %. (yes I know there are apps)

iv) I want to be able to access the files I've downloaded from my email so I can make sure they are deleted.

v) When I did a factory reset my contact information was still there!!!

vi) I want to turn live tiles off. I don't want my damned photos scrolling on the screen.

1.) VPN support is coming with WP8.1 update I think.
2.) I think the media/phone volume separation (separate volume control) in WP8.1 may solve this. Alternatively, since their 'silence' mode seems to not do anything half the time, I just hold the volume down button and get the volume to 0.
3.) WP8.1 has this...and yes apps.
4.) I think a web based file manager is coming in WP8.1
5.) Contact information is saved to your windows account on the cloud, not on the actual phone I believe. I actually liked that so I don't have to try to remember what contacts I need again.
6) You can shrink the tile to the smaller ones. Im not sure if theres a live tile disable option.

So yeah lots of nagging things you have I think will be solved with the WP8.1 update later this spring.

Agreed, this is an issue. Less so if you are on an exchange based backend, but still an issue.

Quote:

Not sure what's happening here. Some games have their own audio settings (per app setting, if you will) so you may have to mute there.

If I set my phone to silent/vibrate, I don't recall ever hearing music, but it's possible.

Quote:

Yep, I have the same issue with Android as well. But, you have lock-screen and tiles that help massively until 8.1 comes out.

Quote:
iv) I want to be able to access the files I've downloaded from my email so I can make sure they are deleted.
Pretty sure you can do this already. What file formats are you having issues with? It's not clean/simple right now, but it can be done.

Quote:
v) When I did a factory reset my contact information was still there!!!
You have to un-couple your account with your phone. Your settings and everything are stored in the cloud based on your account. If you reset and your account info is available, it will re-build. You should have settings to help filter what you want to have saved, however.

Most apps with live-tiles give you the option of disabling live-tiles, as well as what is displayed. Also, the small tiles disable live-tiles. Most live-tiles are only visible for medium or wide sizes.

Unfortunately some apps have no settings for live-tiles.

I just found out what you can do with the pictures tile to make it not scroll (I think).
If you go into your picture album, go to 'favorites' (the tile will actually scroll from the favorites list if you have anything in it) you can select a background or shuffle background. If you select background I think it remains static. Shuffle background makes it scroll through whatever is in favorites.

You can change the battery easily, all you need is a few screwdrivers (Torx 2/4/5), a bit of time and effort.

Other than all that i love the phone, the only thing i regret is not getting the 1020 while it was heavily discounted for a few days (it was down to 350€ from 450-500€).
It's also funny how the 920 is still a better phone than the 925.
IMHO, the 920 is STILL one of the best phones despite not having an SD slot. I would drop my 1020 in a heart beat of Nokia released a new updated 920 with the camera/ram/processor from the 1520/Icon. Don't get me wrong I love the photos with the 1020, second to none, but as a phone, the 920 just felt better (shape) and had built in wireless charging..

I think you'l find that "most phones" do not allow you to just remove the back any more and new models are going towards the "no-service-by-consumers".

Yep, I have that for my 928. It's beyond awesome to just set the phone down and not mess with attaching cables.

I think that was one of the things they were going to look into.

Haven't used my 920 in a few days

I love my Lumina 1020 but have some gripes with the software. I think it's all Windows Phone gripes.

Facebook only lets me browse a few hours back and then it won't load anything previous. Also if I close Facebook, when I open it up again it starts from the very beginning of the news feed. Annoying

There is no back button for Internet Explorer, pressing the back button on the phone will go back a page or two but more often than not it will just close the app.

Email doesn't resize so I have to scroll to the left and back to the right to read emails.

Sounds like a problem with the facebook app. I only use the people app for my feeds, not FB. You might want to check that out.

Also, please submit the problem so that the FB devs can work on a fix. They have had an aggressive update cycle for WP8.

The back button will only go back as far as the history of the browser. If you looked at 2 pages, you can only click back twice, third one will go back to the next item in the stack (be it home page or another application).

The application acts as expected, unless there is a variation in the 1520 I am unaware of.

It may also be a case of muscle memory. You can choose to display navigation links via settings and see if this makes things easier for you.

Are you using the default font size? And double-tapping doesn't work?

This is a strange issue, can't say I have experienced it myself

Explain in more detail, perhaps we can help trouble shoot?

Thanks Sazar for the helpful input and tips. After I got the phone I never looked at the people app much at all, but it seems to work just fine. I will give that a try for the next few days and see how it is. I will submit my issues as well and hopefully they can fix them.

As for the back button on Internet Explorer, I have tested it out and I can browse the web and click through links for a long time and press the back button to get all the way back to where I started from, unless for example I get a text message and reply to it, going back to internet explorer I am no longer able to press the back button to go back as far as I could before the text message. I can only go as far back as the point from when I opened Internet Explorer after the text message.

So after some digging through emails, no pun intended, it appears that my Daily Digg emails are the only ones that don't automatically resize, I assume this would be an issue with Digg encoding than with Windows Phone.

Thanks for all the tips and help, it was an eye opener for me to delve deeper into the issues at hand.
