Default BMW X6 M - Is this madness?

Is this a further dilution of the "M" brand? What do you think?

Personally, I'd buy one in a heartbeat over, say, a Cayenne. I just can't shake the feeling that it looks a little too minivan-esque to be sporty car. Maybe that's the appeal, soccer-mom styling but you can blow people away by stomping the pedal.

If it's an X6 it's not a car. The "X" designation has always been for their SUV's. This X6, is apparently their "M" or performance line of their "X" series SUV's.

BMW X3

BMW X5

Not sure what the big deal is, I guess. It's just the natural evolution of their X series vehicles. Although, maybe it's decent for an SUV...but I would overlook it myself considering the price and only 400hp weighing nearly 5000lbs. Can't see it being much of a performer.

Where are you getting 400hp from? The article in the OP says the X6 M is 555hp and 501lb-ft at 1500... Thats more power than your new Vette 0-60 in 4.5s(without launch control), I'd say its plenty strong enough.

I got it from this article here, which was the first result on a Google search I did. I didn't look into it that much.

And if it is anything like BMW’s other twin-turbocharged engine (the straight-six N54), this should be very easy to modify for additional power .
All with little to no discernable turbo lag.

Default Class: Sports Activity Coupe

I really like the design of it, it looks effn sharp on the road as it strolls on by. As for performance, the 50i is 400bhp with 450lbs of torque which it can push out 0-60 in 5.6secs. Not bad, but its an effn fuel eater at 19-22mpg. Tho waaaaay too $$$$, 35i starts at $63cdn and the 50i starts at $78cdn. CRAZY!

Sorry i dont mean to derail the thread, Acura is coming out with something similar... The ZDX. There's no way it being competitive with the X6 unless they release a whole different engine. As for looks, its growing. Somethings i dont like yet somethings i really do.

Concept model, so i guess we should see a bunch of little things change before it hits the streets later this year. Im really curious on how much this will be along with what engine they will toss in it.

X6 definitely looks better than an X5 and especially X3 (which I consider to be such crap, I wouldn't take it even if someone gave it to me free).

I agree with you. And...in fact, that's exactly what I did.

When I bought my previous car, it had a problem right away that the dealer fixed for me (smog pump) and gave me a loaner BMW X3 for the week. I hated that thing so much that I left it in my apartment complex parking lot and drove my 06 Impala work car the whole week instead.

They are absolute pieces of garbage.

Trailblazer is incredibly bland looking. How many Prius' have you seen that have the curves and aggressive looks of the X6 or X6 M? You're crazy to compare this to a Prius.

X6 and M6 are the few of Suv or Sav (whatever they want to call them) I would drive. They are simply HOT and worthy of the BMW line.

I don't think it's bland, but I'm also not a big fan of uber over the top sporty look.

You can't tell me that this isn't a clean looking vehicle

Theres nothing to it, it looks incredibly dated to me. I've seen them in person, and the only difference from a run of the mill trailblazer is the bumpers and an SS badge, they look entirely plain.

Its a very clean looking, but somewhat boring and safe/conservative... a little too safe. BUT it works for what it is and i dont think its horrible, it just lacks that definitive GOTCHA look/feel to it.

I like the "sleeper" look, I guess that's why the TB SS And SRT-8 Grand Cherokee appeal to me.

I'm not into the new age style with all these sharp lines/angles. I'm more for old school styling.

To me, this is complete sex

To me, this is complete sex

To me, those look like a longer 80s escort. Completely safe design, especially compared to the mustangs of the 60s and 70s. I can't stand those 5.0s. Safe design=fail, imo.

I like the front end of the X6. Not sure about the back though.

My favorite mustang designs are the Fox Bodies, and Fastbacks.

You do realize the Fox Body started in 79, right? So actually the escort copied the fox body style.
