3Dmark05 score, it's my CPU right?

I would say that CPU's definitely holding you back. If it's gaming you're worried about it's A64 you should have. I have a P4 system and an A64 system, the A64 cost me all of $300 more but is so much faster it's not even funny. I score 5300+ in 3dmark05 and that's with an X800 XL @ 410/540 and an A64 Winnie @ 2.43GHz(270HTx9).
If going AMD is not an option for you and you want to reuse your mobo, then I'm afraid the Northwood 3.06GHz P4 would be the fastest CPU you could use with a max FSB of 533MHz.

I don't think it's your CPU. 3DMark 2005 is not mutch affected by the CPU.

Which Catalyst do you have installed? What settings did you use when testing (v-sync off, AA and AF on app. preference; i.e. default driver settings)?

45xx points seems a bit low for an X800XT. Last time I've tested (after installing Catalyst 5.7), I've got 4740 with the system in my sig, the X800 pro was not overclocked.

edit: I just noticed my sig says my CPU is at 11*200. It's on 10*200.

Did you read my post? 4560 points is very low for an X800 XT. I score higher with an X800 XL with a negligble o/c.

hmm now im perplexed. i thought it had to do w/ cpu since in the screenshot i posted it says CPU score 2333, but then the 3dMark05 score is seperate at 4562.

as for filtering vsync and all that, just look at my screenshot. im using the free version of 3dMark05, no options there's only 1 way to run it.

Ach! Don't listen to that guy, he doesn't know what he's talking about. It's quite obvious that your cpu is the limitation. Think about it, I have a faster CPU but a slower video card, but I get a higher score than you. What's the obvious difference? CPU speed.

I didn't mean the settings in 3DMark, but in the Catalyst control panel (or control center).

What's your problem with me? I was just recommending him to check his Catalyst driverr settings... It may be worth a try before getting new hardware.

His CPU is a limitation for games, but I highly doubt that it would cause mutch lower score in 3DMark 2005 (not counting the CPU score which is obviously low).

im using just plain old control panel cats. 5.7

have it set at "balanced" which i think means all the AA/AF is application controled. so no forced filtering when i ran it.

I don't have a problem with you, just stating the obvious. A 2.4GHz Northwood B P4 isn't exactly pumping out the fps like my 2.4GHz+ A64 Winnie

Hell, my main system scores 5564 in 3DMark05 and I paid a lot less for my hardware than either of you.

Seriously though, Shaidar's right. That speed and core of the P4 is the reason for the low score.

I paid wholesale cost for all my parts, so I built my A64 rig for pretty darn cheap...
Besides, I've got 2GB RAM (dual-channel running @220MHz/440 effective DDR) and 2x WD Caviar 200GB SATA HDs in a RAID 0 array I'll take 200 points less than you in 3dmark05, considering my GPU is clocked @ "only" 410MHz w/a mem speed of 540.
