lol .. already? Feels like PCars was officially released only a year ago. They're already abandoning the project and moving to a new game?

Terrible decision by SMD.

Expected though given that Humble has had the game in 2 different bundles over the last month.

It was released in 2015, had a full year of DLC (releasing each month). Then more patches/updates the following year. While I get it that some people think it's too early, every developer does it. SMS is just more up front about what they do. Other developers just drop off support without any mention/notice. SMS had announced that staff would start being diverted over to pCARS2 halfway through 2015. They never hid anything. Some make thing it's a bad thing, but they are being more transparent than other developers.

Just seems like they're chasing money. What will change in pCARS2 that they can't do in pCARS1? It's already the best looking sim on the market and the engine is solid. SMD is getting greedy with this - not happy about it at all. Transparent or not, what they're doing here makes no sense besides looking for a $50 cash grab.

Just about everything...

You always run the risk when making large scale changes to an existing product of destabilizing the core. Look at iRacing. There are a lot of things they could improve on that sim, but they run the risk of causing issues for their players. Therefore, they take their time and only do very small changes over the years. SMS would rather do more large scale changes but that requires delivering on an updated platform.

pCARS2 will have a redone lighting engine and rendering system. It will have a lot more enhanced capabilities which are significant differences over what pCARS1 was able to provide. A lot of lessons learned but pCARS1 provided a good fan base and platform to build from... You cannot spend 3+ years of man labor for zero income. That's just silly. You either then have to charge larges amounts for DLC to continue support, or release a new version of the platform.

I guarantee you that this release will be well worth the price. I'm sure people will be saying "this is what the original pCARS should have been". However, Gran Turismo Sport would not look like it does if there hadn't been a GT 1-6 before it. It's an evolution.

Then don't buy it! What's the issue?
2 years since Pcars was released, plus it was available WAY before that as a work in progress.

Awesome, looking forward to it.

Any info out there on the cars and tracks? Would really like to have more vintage cars, formula, and CanAm.

No official list at this time. Some of the members on the official forum have started collecting a list based on what's been seen in videos and screenshots so far:

http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/sho...irmed-car-list

I doubt we'll ever see CanAm cars. The way SMS does their rendering and physics requires a pretty accurate model (i.e. the 3D suspensions translate directly to their physics suspension model). Since most of the CanAm cars were basically designed and built "at the track", there isn't much technical information on them out there.

I do keep asking about those cars, so maybe they will look into a few just to shut me up.

BTW, great video on that fantastic era of racing:

Just recently bought the first one, not all that impressed really. It's got so many good things going on yet stupid decisions like not letting you pick which classes to race with when picking mixed classes. Stupid little decisions like that are pretty lame.

Can't wait for GTR 3.

Just to be complete, that wasn't a design decision; it was a "not enough time" thing. There are remnants of the attempt in the code which is what allows the 3rd party tool developed to create custom groupings but it has side effects. Those were the side effects (and more) which there wasn't enough time/technology to solve for pCARS1.

You do realize that the development team which created GTR and GTR2 (as well as GTL) was "Blimey! Games" which is SMS? i.e. GTR3 is not being developed by the studio who did the first two so I wouldn't count on it being what you think it will be...

Here's hoping for open world, RPG or something new beside just a sim with closed circuits again.
