The Note line has always been slightly faster than the S, more RAM, bigger battery etc, have they not? The Note 4 was faster than the S4, same with Note 5.

Bigger battery would probably be my only complaint with it.
4gig is plenty of ram, twice the base storage, is nice, display is top notch, camera is top notch...I feel like if this was announced along side the S7, rather than a couple months later, it would have received nothing but praise.

This time around, apart from the USB-C, it seems to be literally the pen that is different.

C'est la vie. Still a great device. Just not the better device I think most expected.

I think we've basically hit peak smartphone... Nothing new on the horizon, the platform is only evolutionarily upgraded from here, and it's just not that exciting anymore. I'm not excited about the new iPhone, though if it's IP68 then I'd probably upgrade, phones are technically getting faster, but it's to a degree now most people can't tell anymore. Just not as magical as it used to be waiting for the launch announcements.

Once wireless charging is possible anywhere in the room, then I'll care about wireless charging.

Awesome. YOU do that.

To all the people who cherish not having plug their phones into stuff, we'll be happy with the options.

It's a pretty solid device right? What's to hate?

The battery is literally the only problem with it.

Not entirely impressed apart from the fact there'd be screen protectors that can finally fit properly. That blue coral is sweet though. No use for the S-pen.

Peak smartphone? Not even close.

They need to add that spectographic tech in one and also put in a 'plutonium' battery for uber uptime.

Why would the vast majority of smartphone users need this?

Battery life constantly improves, when phones can go 2 days without charging (like the S7 now, or my iPhone 6s+ before I started messing with the iOS 10 beta) people aren't going to be screaming for battery life like they used to.

More battery is always good. Think of a phone you don't have to charge every 2 days. Think of a phone you never have to charge at all!

Never said it wasn't, but there's not really anything exciting to do anymore. Every iteration is a speed bump, slightly thinner, slightly better camera, slightly better battery life. That's why we're at peak smartphone, it's just not that interesting anymore.

Am considering possibly getting the Note 7...I can get it for $0 through the EPP I'm with

Can get either the S7, S7 Edge or Note 7 for Free...wish the S7 has the big battery of the Edge then it'd be a no-brainer. As it is it's down to the S7 Edge or Note 7 I think...

If you don't need the Note features or .2" extra screen, go with the Edge IMO.

Note 7.

Just for the software alone. Not sure how your buying, but if your paying anything near retail price it's like a 50 dollar difference. Oh read the rest of the post. Note 7 for sure. While lots of the hardware is similar the iris scanner works very well. Now, also depends on which version of the s7e we are talking about here. Are we talking exynos here or snapdragon. The snapdragon version is **** in comparison especially when it comes to battery.

**** in comparison? Hardly. I can get 6 hours of screen time and a day of use no problem. I've also heard the iris scanner is not that great from a few reviews.

I echo what Zero said.

One reason off the top of my head is everyone does grocery shopping. You can use spectroscopy on food to determine freshness.

Once the tech catches theres a lot you can do with it.

Was just reading that the Note 7 has Gorillas Glass 5 and I was excited about that but it looks like they made it more shatter proof but at the expense of being less scratch resistant than GG4

I don't know how much of a problem that'd be for me as I never put a screen protector on my GS3 and it never got a scratch on it but I would prefer scratch resistance be as good as possible.

Probably would choose the S7 Edge now over the Note 7 even though I like the idea of the S Pen and the extra 32GB of internal memory it has

For any that have used it, how seamless and fast is this iris detection unlocking feature? Does it work well?

Works well, but you definitely need to be looking at it. It will unlock faster than the finger print. It's nice as a backup for if you have gloves on. Also, it will not be fooled like with a pic or video of your eyes etc.

I don't know how much of a problem that'd be for me as I never put a screen protector on my GS3 and it never got a scratch on it but I would prefer scratch resistance be as good as possible.
Wow I just saw the vid of Note7's scratch test, won't even do Mohs 3?? In any case, I've put a screen protector on all my phones since GG came out. Nothing protects against sand or diamonds, and those come in regular contact with screens anyhow.

Haha no, I meant diamonds earrings or rings on women coming into contact with the screen.

lol.

Regardless, I agree with them. If they release an Exynos version with WCDMA/LTE and none of that "edge" bs.... I'll jump on board. $900-1,000 for a smartphone.. Its getting kinda ridiculous.

Im fine with my rooted and OC'd Note 5 (and my non-rooted one).
