On a side note, I upgraded to iOS9 feels more sluggish than 8 on my iP6+.

I'm eager to see some benchmarks for the 6s. 2GB of RAM should drastically reduce multi-tasking reloading which is one of my biggest gripes about my 6+.

3D touch looks to be very well done. Could rectify a lot of the little nagging issue I have with iOS.

Time to wait a couple weeks and see what Google has in store for us.

It is, you go to the Play Store and install the Google Now launcher.

Currently syncing 60 gigs of music and 16 gigs of photos. Will have about 20 gigs to play with. Pics and 4k video to come.

Just got home with my 6s. This thing is RIDICULOUSLY fast. Only phone I've owned that leaves my old nexus 5 in the dust. None of the lag or stuttering my 6+ had. Very satisfied so far.

Best bit of news about the phone was the extra RAM.

Looking forward to seeing this trend and what it means for apps, widget type stuff, and multitasking. The devs can really run with this.

Ya, I have to find another method (power button) to just view the lock screen. The Touch ID is so fast I don't even see the lock screen anymore.

Off to the State Fair. A great place to test!

Yes the RAM seems to be helping big time. I'm seeing significantly less reloading when I swipe back to pages. On the 6+ I'd see a reload almost every swipe. I've gone back 6-7 pages before and not had the device reload. It makes the device a joy to use so far.

I went ahead and signed up for the jump on demand program at T-Mobile so I can upgrade 3x a year one as well. So I felt good about giving Apple another go seeing as I wouldn't be stuck with this phone for an extended period of time. So far I'm in love though.

I stand by my claim that the iPhone 6 was gimped. I now know the reason why Apple didn't directly compare the 6 to the 5S in last year's Keynote, opting to go all they back to the 3G and say it was 80x faster.

Judging by Macrumors, alot of us thought so too - the iPhone 6 felt slow.

And everyone knows it. The hardware in the 6S is stellar. i'm having ZERO issues with the 6S+ that I did with the 6.

Surface 3 > any smartphone or non-Windows tablet. Certain benchmarks don't mean jack. When you can multitask full fledged applications without compromises, we can have this discussion, otherwise it is just ridiculous hyperbole.

The numbers discussed are primarily related to browser performance, and to some gfx performance. However you have a variation in resolution that explains why something is closer or further apart (6s demolishes 6s+, for example).

Regarding the article, you are correct that it is an op-ed. You are incorrect that data is not provided. Features and capabilities are discussed, as well as screen size and physical size differences. This is all empirical as opposed to purely anecdotal.

So yes, the device is very impressive, especially for a phone/hand-held. But it is no where near to a comparable product for something like a Surface 3 or any other full fledged device. Let's not go there just yet. We are a year or two removed from any semblance of parity even at the low end. Single threaded, sure, multi-threaded, I think not.

i'm not saying it's performance is on par with the surface pro 3 overall, but in some benches its close, which was exactly my point. Yes benches are benches, but people who don't like them are the first to post them when their device is in the lead. They give you an idea of performance, I've never taken them as gospel.

As far as him providing any data, he basically provided a list of features, not really any hard data to back them up.

Case in point he says the Note 5 has a faster process, when benchmarks show that's obviously not the case. He doesn't cite any benchmark, review, or real world test to back up that claim. If anything the 2 chips trade blows.

Basically the article comes off to me as "I like this phone better" and that's fine. My initial point was why post that opinion like it matters to the conversation at hand?

Fair enough

Note 5 to iPhone 6s and 6s+, they are on par for many things. The storage performance seems to be better for the iPhones, and the single-threaded performance is significantly better. Per geekbench 3, multi threaded performance for the Note 5 is better so yes, about par when compared, depending on the situation.

Great products, both. Slightly different use cases.

http://arstechnica.com/apple/2015/09...hip-for-apple/

Seems like there are 2 different procs for the new phones. I wonder if there is a way to tell which is which from the device ID or other identifiers (serial number, perhaps?).

I am assuming the Samsung one is the one to get since it is smaller, thereby having better thermal dissipation and theoretically better battery life.
