Default I want my ****ing Netflix on my Android phone

I'm really getting annoyed by how long this is taking. The power is there, wtf man...

Slingplayer works great on the EVO, no good reason why Netflix wouldn't...

They say it has something to do with security and fractionation of the platform.

I am guessing they really are just planning on releasing on Android 2.3 which from what I understand is easier to design such apps for.

My other guess is that they want to put as much encryption on it as possible the result being only high end phone will be able to handle it.

Skyfire processes video on a server somewhere and then streams it to the phone. That is how they got hulu working for a bit until hulu figured out how to block them. So if their servers can handle silverlight they might be able to handle netflix.

I know what skyfire does, but he has a flash enabled device... why waste his time with skyfire?

I think the reason it works so well on Windows Phone 7 is because of the XBox Live integration.

Doesn't work in Skyfire or Dolphin HD. the annoying part is that skyfire actually works with silverlight, but not with the way Netflix implements it

Streamed an episode of 24 on my lunch break with my iPhone. Fragmentation is killing Android. All that hype only to find out a basic app like Netflix is not even available. Sigh... But I guess I feel your pain since Apple hasn't update the Maps app since 2007. Guess I'll do some gaming until then.

Clearly total BS. Netflix would be nice but it is hardly a killer app. I would rather have swype and no netflix then no swype and netflix. Netflix will make it to Android soon enough. Fragmentation or what some might call variety is the key to Android's success. One size fits all is a philosophy best left to tube sock manufacturers.

Right now neither platform has everything. In the long run my money is on Android.

Why do you guys even want to stream netflix on a mobile device? I ask this as someone who used to watch plenty of Stargate on my PDA while carpooling to work. The experience was wholely unsatisfactory.

It's like watching tv on those portable tv sets from the 80s. Except worse.

I don't care that much or hardly at all but some day I will be sitting at the airport waiting for my flight that has been delayed by an hour and then I might want it.

The retina screen makes for some pleasant viewing IMO.

I like to use netflix in bed if I feel like watching a movie while cuddling the wife, or while out eating lunch, between classes, while waiting to pick up the wife from work and the like.

It's actually very awesome to have the option to watch the netflix library on the go. Yet another task that my tiny all in one device can do effectively for me.

I play games more than I watch netflix though, but my mother in law watches netflix on her iphone constantly, so it is more than worth the $9 a month.

Ugh. I tried watching movies on my Zune, then eventually on my Pre, then eventually on my Droid... And I always went back to a larger device. I'd rather have to charge my laptop in the terminal so I can watch movies than watch on such a tiny screen holding it so close to my face Just can't bring myself to do it.

~shrug~ I can respect that, though I have no problem with it, course I never had much issue with watching movies on my old Palm TX either, nor my iPhone 3g or 3gs, and the iPhone 4 screen is much better, so I actually feel spoiled by it . The resolution and screen-size are fine for me to have my private netflix viewing sessions. I actually prefer the screen as it cuts down on looky-loos in public places like at school.

I do value my privacy, absolute silence when operating the device, not carrying more than one device and elegant simplicity. All of which is provided by my phone, so given that those are my lead concerns (along with gaming), it works great for me. I recognize that not everyone has the same concerns of course.

I watch Netflix on my iphone4 now and again, it works great and I have no issues with it. I prefer using the iPad for that sort of thing, but both devices can do it and I like changing things up now and again.
