search is broken? [NO]

I can't search for generic short strings. I know once we couldn't search for 3 letters, now it seem that words with 5 letters doesnt either work, i try to search 'name' or 'third' and nothing comes up

The word "creed" works. "Name" and "third" must not come up because they are so common. That is my guess, at least.

That'd be my guess too. Eg 'name' and 'then' will return no results, whereas 'port', or 'port name' will (http://www.rage3d.com/board/search.p...rchid=2059309).

Searching just for really common words would result in low value results, but still consume resources.

vbulletin does not index common words, so this is a vbulletin "limitation". Its a good limitation though since, as andy stated, it would consume resources while providing fairly useless results.

As to word length, it remains set to a four character minimum.

I know I've asked this before, but would it possible to add specific three-letter words to the search index? For example: IDE, GOW, ATT, MP3, and so forth?

I've changed it to a three character minimum across the board - we'll see how it goes. However, since fewer letters = more common, I expect most three character search strings will come up empty. Furthermore, it will take awhile for the search table to adjust to the new setting.

It sometime when I search for my own posts long ago (or a word with a specific username ) , on which I am sure that common word was used, I kinda expect to generate low scale result, but surprise me that nothing come up.
