Talking How about some fun?! Here's a big movie soundtrack quiz (hardcore movie fans enter!)

As in keeping with my tradition of occasionally making an aural quiz for my friends here at the forum, I decided it would also be a great time to celebrate my new 19" monitor, which finally updates my old 14"!

My brother has been transferring our Laserdisc movies onto VCDs, and I decided to cut out little clips from each of the movies, and just the parts with music (so that the voices won't give away the movie ), and that's your quiz! Tell me which movies the clips come from!

They're all WMA files, for space reasons (and to make it 56K friendly), even though it'll say .WAV in a few of them.

I'll be adding more when my brother's made a few more, but here are 15 to start with. Good luck!

The first one seems to be corrupted?

I'm working through them at the moment - This is damn frustrating, because I recognise the music but can't remember what film they are from!

All I can tell you is that Number 9 is from one of the Star Trek films, but I couldn't tell you which one.

And yes, I believe Shikatanai is right on Number 15th.

Thank you for pointing it out. Reuploaded, and fixed.

Shikatanai is correct. And Hanners, #9 is from a Star Trek movie, but you have to tell me which one.

One and a half down...

I knew I should have paid more attention when my Star Trek loving friend watches Star Trek movies....

Is it Star Trek 4.5 - The Search For A Decent Toaster ?

14 would be indiana jones

#4 is a star wars isn't it?

That's right! Glad to see another one's seen this awesome movie.

Guys, #4 is not Batman. Far from it.

And #5, I can understand why it'd sound jurassic parkish, but it's not. But you're doing well.

3 down, 12 to go...

#12 is Triple X?

It has to be one of those movies where they set up a meeting in a opera house and whisper about their plans right before some big opera solo.

#1 - The Crow

You saying it's your favourite movie right now gave it away

EDIT: Now that I actually listen to it, I don't think it is The crow

EDIT2: Can you add the names of the songs we already guessed to the original post, please

Oh and #3 - Amadeus?

This quiz is already on the second page?! Wow...

Anyhoo, this is a big *bump*, and I'll edit the list and put names next to the ones you guys got. But I'm amazed here...

Perhaps I'll put up some clues, seems that you guys need a few...

Okay, first I want to tell you all that these are apparently quite hard questions, and you guys are doing really well. All your answers would work, if I didn't know the movies myself... I've put the ones figured out already on the side of the list, when someone figures another one out I'll put that name next to it.

Okay, here's some clues to help this quiz keep alive.

01. Amazing action political drama from the 80's... (I'll leave the giveaway clue for later )
02. It's a recent space movie, with a very famous action movie star.
03. Listen to the voice... It's a comedy, when a man turns into a woman...
04. A Mel Brooks version of a classic story.
05. Medieval movie, set around a knight and his old 'padawan' nemesis who has half a heart...
06. Great early 90's movie which involves a lot of skydiving.
07. Hmm... Railguns...
08. I will shoot anyone who doesn't know this music! It's a very old famous classic Western, with some of the most amazing music in movie history!
10. It's the credits music to this movie... "Oh look, a sailboat."
11. Based on a book, a town is infected with the deadliest virus ever to exist...
12. This is a romantic movie, and the music comes at the end of the film. Jeff Bridges plays the guy. That's all I'm saying.
14. What type of theme does this music give you the impression of? Listen to the beginning part closely... It's one of the few movies with that theme.

I hope that helps.

Ok.. no need to shoot atleast me

#8, The song name is The Ecstasy of Gold. From the movie "The Good, The Bad And the Ugly"

There is a really good version of that on the Metallica S&M album, played by the San Francisco Symphony orchestra... I might as well listen to the whole album now after the "intro"

#5. Correct!
#6. Nope...
#7. Correct!
#10. Yup.
#11. No...
#14. YES!

You did real well there, Marqus! You know your sh*t!

Z0iCc3Li, let me shake your hand...

Come on guys, only a few more to go. I've update the list, and I shocked to see that no one has come up with an answer for #2 yet!

But seeing that either I picked a bad weekend, or you guys just aren't into this stuff anymore ( ), I won't continue this one. The first one I ever did went for a long time, and that was fun. The one after and this one don't move half as much. Ah well...

I'll post the answers tomorrow if no one's finished it yet...
