Welll heres my latest score. Everything at default, res 1280x1024 etc. My score improved by a measley 60 points from cat 7.1.

I've seen this on every PC forum that I've been to, 3DMark Hi-Score threads that get neglected and forgotten....

That's why I put together a website called "BENCHMARK CENTRAL" to store all overclock and benchmark scores, and automatically update itself. It also stores system info, and displays overclocking stats and hardware graphs.

When you submit your data, the site updates all stats instantly to include your info, so you can see exactly where you are in the order of merit. You can also filter the results by cpu/gpu/cooling, etc, so you can compare your system to other similar systems.

These are HD 3850 Crossfire scores on my secondary rig. They are going to be gimped by about 500-750pnts because they were run on Vista x64.

Both were @ 730|999 via Overdrive-

with a 3.5GHz Q6600 = 16761

They were on i975x so I couldn't use the Quad core above 390x9. Bench 1 was with the "Crysis" 7.11 cats and 2 was with the 7.12s. Looks like a 3.0GHz dual core actually holds them back some compared to the quad. The SM 2.0 and 3.0 scores are higher.

Frys was having a sale on quads today so I bought the Q6600 for $280.00. I slapped it in and turned my PC on set it to 9x400 in the bios.

Nice score, however if your quad is the "G0" version, why stop @ 3.4? Go to 425x9 for 3.84GHz and OC your 3870's to 860/2.6GHz run your fans @ 60% for each card, and i'll bet your score will be 20,000+

I need to install XP MCE 2005 again.

Vista costs me between 500-750pnts.

Q6600 G-0s are great. Penryn's are getting 4.0GHz on air and 500 or more MHz on water. Thing is those are unlocked chips. If you get a Q9450 you'll be working with an 8x multi. So you'll need a board that can do a 500FSB with Quad for 4.0GHz, and of course a chip that can do the same. 450 would give you 3.6GHz which would still be solid.

A couple of weeks ago I got the great idea (sarcasm) to do a dual boot with xp and vista 32. after futzing around with xp for a hour or so I just couldn't take it. Vista only on this guys rig

That's why I got the itch to buy a Q6600 now instead of penryn in a few months. I just got lucky and ended up with a good chip. The only HS that was worth a crap there was the CM-212 so that's what I ended up sticking on the proc . . . temps are fine though. I had to bump the core V to 1.4 to get it prime stable which isn't bad concidering the high vid 1.3. But over all all I'm really happy with the chip.

Well the reason the G-0 is only @ 3.53 in my BX2 rig is it's i975x and that's the way it goes. The one in my P35 rig does 3.8 on air.

I did manage to break 17k with these little HD 3850s today. 760|1029-

Still Vista HP x64 with a Q6600 @ 3.53GHz. They have a little more left in the memory and after 760 on the core the "driver stops working" eventually. For 159 a pop they seem like ok cards. Heck now you can get VisionTek versions for around 143usd @ BB. I wouldn't run them any higher than 1680x and they are ideal 1440x or 1280x cards. For folks that play above that res, like more than 4xAA or want to often use adaptive AA they should go with the 512Mb version.

So you'll need a board that can do a 500FSB with Quad for 4.0GHz, and of course a chip that can do the same. 450 would give you 3.6GHz which would still be solid. The one in my P35 rig does 3.8 on air. I did manage to break 17k with these little HD 3850s today. 760\|1029- http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=4459470 Still Vista HP x64 with a Q6600 @ 3.53GHz. They have a little more left in the memory and after 760 on the core the "driver stops working" eventually. For 159 a pop they seem like ok cards. Heck now you can get VisionTek versions for around 143usd @ BB. I wouldn't run them any higher than 1680x and they are ideal 1440x or 1280x cards.
