that and that the extra 8 cu don't do all that much over the 6800 xt

so i may get a 6800 Strix latter or wait for next gen

Bill the 3080/3090 and 6800/XT don't O/C well either. That's just how it is I'm afraid. Every gen you jump on the AMD hype train and when it finally launches you come up with numerous reasons why you can't buy it. Remember no compromises no regrets just do it. We ain't getting younger my friend. No offence intended BTW just my personal opinion.

i would buy the 6800 xt strix
or maybe a 3080 strix

but not a 3090 or 6900 xt at this point they are just not worth the extra cash

Bill you do realise that card costs $1,079 on the Asus site which is $430 over MSRP. Nice. That's 66% for LC which is in scalper territory. I paid 10% over MSRP for an AIB card which I thought was reasonable.

that cards MSRP is 1,079

the stock amd reference card is 649 but a water cooled card does cost more and one with a upgraded card even more
i don't buy reference cards anymore .

the 3080 strix is 930 and not water
and that does not make it 230 over MSRP

Bill the 3080 MSRP is $699. At $930 that makes it 33% over MSRP.

Alright people, getting the thread back on topic!

I am happy to report that, AFAIK, I am the first of this thread to get a card from a member(thanks acroig!) And the system does work

Acroig was quick enough on the draw to snap up a 3080 from Best Buy and I was able to get it from him.

The proofs ..the rare and elusive 3080 in its natural habitat:

The best thing about the 3080 is HDMI 2.1. 4k120 444 10bit is just

I will definitely pay it forward if I come across a 3080. I am still in the hunt for a 5900x.

I worked on £1600 for a RTX 3090, or £1200+ for a RTX3080 any time this side of summer.

Got the FE version, I found it on facebook, but it turned out to be someone I went to school with 34 years ago LOL.

He got it on the 14th, it was unused and still sealed. Paid a £200 premium, but decided that was better than paying a £500 premium for a RTX3080.
