Problems with sending Files on aim msn and all other programs.

I cannont send files using any of these programs.

I can recieve tho....

Also when using Direct connect and i search for something nothing comes up at all....

any idea of what security option could have gotten enabled?

XP's firewall that's turned on by defualt when you first install XP maybe?

could also be a hardware firewall/router...

to solve the direct connect problem, you could enable passive mode, but that disables multiple hub searches... (better than nothing tho

)

Seriously though, i have the same problem, and it has to do with my wireless router (SMC7004AWBR).Help him, help me!

Its firewall protection...

BobbyBbs2712, you gotta open one of the ports on your router. SAme goes for Ijustwannaknow if your suing XP. That, or turn off firewall alltogether.

Right click on "my Network Places"
Right click on "local Area Connection"
Click on Properties
Click on advance
and choose your firewall settings.

My self, I usually disable it all together seeing that I have nothing to protect.

I believe messenger uses TCP port 1863, and AIM uses both TCP and UDP(for some reason??) port 5190.
