Default New Phone Time

I'm looking to get a new phone. I have a Motorola v220 now and it's a great phone, but the antenna doesn't stay in because all the threads on the phone are stripped so reception sucks. I was looking at the v551 and after a mail-in rebate I can get the phone with an extension on my contract for $99. I like my service...when my phone works so I don't want to switch providers. Anyone here have any strong reasons not to get the v551? I would have to get a new USB cable to transfer files which sucks though.

Well, I got shafted. It's a 2year contract with the 1year price so it would be $210 for the phone. Here I come Ebay.

I am a Nokia man all the way.

Don't ask me why, but I hate flip phones of all kinds. So flimsy-looking and hard to hold, and you have to open it to answer..... I use a basic Nokia 6010 for its intended purpose, making calls and sending text messages. I buy my phones to be phones.

Sorry for the rant.

My suggestion is to get the best free phone you can with your plan. If you spend money, get something that everyone else doesn't have, like a high-level bar phone with video.

I know Hamidxa would recommend any high-level Motorola phone since he has owned the v330 I believe. One of my friends has the v260 and gets excellent reception.

I prefer SE phones myself. I've used Motorola phones in the past too, but I dislike CDMA phones which are all Motorolas I get get here.

V551 is awesome, get a V635 if you can. bluetooth, EDGE, MP3 capability and 1.3Mpixel cam = slick too.

Yea, the only thing I have against non-flip phones is that the screen can get scratched since it's always exposed. I usually throw the phone in my pocket and a non-flip phone screen would get scrathed beyond belief. My first phone was a non-flip phone and it got nasty. I checked ebay and didn't see any Cingular V635's

Both the 551 and the 635 would be nice upgrades to what I have now.

Edit: Found one for $185. A bit too much for me considering it's a phone. I can find the 551 for under $50 easy.

Ive had mine for about 2 months or so now, maybe more. Not a single scratch so far, the display seems pretty resistant to damage.

Yea, true. I prefer flip phones over non-flip phones. I think they look much better.
