Phat is still being judged by the masses

Default witch is better a 9500np or a 9500np

does the new pcb 9500 non pro perform better that the 9700 pcb version (unmodded)?

I think Nuke missed the point

I read it as does the red L shaped 9500np (same board as the 9700) perform better or worse than the black straight 9500np

theoretically, the red L shaped one should perform better because it has a 256 bit memory bus compared to the 128 bit bus on the straight boards. Both cards have 4 pipelines enabled. HOWEVER, the 4 pipelines is the bottleneck on these cards so the bus width really is not a factor until you open up the other 4 pipes.

open up the other 4 pipes on a "L" board....you get a 9700np
open up the other 4 pipes on a straight board....9500 pro

then the bus width makes a huge difference!

I don't geddit. They're both the same cards. So shouldn't they perform the same??
2x5 = 10
5x2 = 10
See, they're the same

they are the same card by name only

performance wise, yes they are the same in 4 pipeline mode, like I said before, its the 4 pipelines that are the bottleneck.

It is when you open the other 4 pipes that you see a difference

thats why a 8 pipeline "L" shaped board is a 9700 and a 8 pipeline "straight" board is a 9500 pro

clear as mud?
