Default Large Folder Transfer Across Gigabit Network

I have 500Gb of data to transfer from a desktop to a server on my home gigabit network. Are there any safe sizes to stick to or any recommendations on transfer sizes? I would rather do it in groups of 30GB at a time but am worried whether this is ok to do.
Settings like Standby, etc. have been turned off.

What are you running, windows boxes? Probably best to drag'n'drop and let the OS sort it out.

What Jim said. I transfer hundreds of gigs across wireless on my network without problems.

I've looked at those in the past, but with the DD-WRT firmware, I can increase my radio output on my WRT54GS, which kind of negates the need for the high gain antennas. On the other hand, with the high gain antennas, I could probably reduce the radio's output...

But, the firmware is FREE.

That DD-WRT firmware is awesome! I turned a few coworkers onto it and they are hooked.
