Yet more Nintendo sales figures

One thing that got my attention:

"According to the press release, Super Smash Bros. Melee has sold 250,000 copies in nine days. Nintendo believes that this makes it the best-selling game for any video game console launched this year."

Umm, they seem to forget that MGS2 sold 1.8 million copies in 2 weeks, which is 900,000 units per week.

Interestingly worded

Seems Nintendo is pulling pages out of the Microsoft book

Anyway, Smash Bros. is a very good selling game....especially when you figure the system has just started. How well would it sell had there been a GameCube base of 10-20million units?? I'm sure it would be a lot higher than 250,000

Well it won't matter what the NPD reports on the market. I just read they don't calculate the sales from Walmart into the figures. The nations largest chain store and they don't bother with it. Sheesh that can throw off the numbers on either side quite a bit.

WalMart moves more Nintendo Hardware and software than any other retail chain. To not include them in the research makes no sense, but I read the same thing that you did. That report will be accurate, yeah, ummmm, right.

Actually I read they shipped 1.8 million NOT SOLD just shipped if this has changed let me know I'll update my chart.
