SpeckledJim is still being judged by the masses

Default WinRar problem

Now here's an odd problem. Ever since I got the new pc, I've had a random problem extracting multi-part RAR archives. Doesn't happen every time, but now and again the extraction will simply pause at some point, and appear to hang. However if the mouse is moved over the extraction window, it will happily continue to completion. There's no need for a mouse click, but without the mouse over, it will wait indefinitely.

Anyone else had this, or am I just special?

You still better then here, the gui version forgets to extract files randomly ...
Using command line version by total commander ...

both of those sound pretty special.... have you reported it to WinRAR? their tech support should be able to help you. Unless you have a reason for not using the benefits of registered users in which case I would advise you to use 7zip to extract your archives.

Well I'm using the unregistered version and it's now expired. Apart from the nag window, it still works normally (excepting the intermittent problem of course). The behaviour was there before it expired, so I can rule that out.

What version # is it?

(you still should try 7zip and see if it works better)

WinRar is version 3.71

I've installed 7zip. I used to have it on the old machine, but it didn't get much use because WinRar was the default app at the time. I'll give it another try.

You're not special.

I've seen the same thing on my computer. Not sure what causes it, but yeah, moving the mouse over the window "fixes" the problem.

Certain configuration ... vista/sp1/ntfs/older version packed rar-s
Wonder how can they have this big bugs left in the prog for this long.
Randomly forgetting to extract files ...
If it continues like this winrar will go the same route as winace ... as forgotten,
just as winzip :P
In 3.80b same too

I always use free apps if they are as good as the licensed ones like 7-zip is.
Dont know why anyone would use anything than 7-zip
