Microsoft Unveils New Xbox 360 Holiday Bundles

While games are nice, I would still prefer a price cut.

Well, it's about time.

Almost two months ago, images circulated giving speculation of a holiday bundle for the Xbox 360. More recently, a Best Buy leak nearly confirmed them, so we've simply been waiting for official word.

It came today as Microsoft announced the bundles, packaging the Xbox 360 Premium and Elite SKUs with Forza Motorsport 2 and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. The Premium and Elite will go for their regular prices of $349.99 and $449.99, respectively. Though no release date is given for the bundles, they have been promised to be in stores by the end of October.

The second part of the popular SKU-reshuffling rumor -- the replacement of the "Core" with the "Arcade" -- was not included in this announcement, so remains in the rumor pile, but today's reveal gives more evidence to its eventual existence.

Of course, this could negatively affect Xbox 360 sales numbers for October by giving consumers a reason to wait until the end of the month to buy. But then, they're probably still doing pretty well with that other game, so it could be a wash.
