Thanks for the hard work Honsy.

Guide readers: please limit your responses to questions/comments/feedback/suggestions specific to this guide. Thanks!

FAQ:
  • Hey, that guide for GUI, I was reading it over, does it make sense that the clients name would be "Team Rage3D Folding username". It's possible that people will type in the whole thing instead of just the username part.

Thanks for the question. Yes, your username will be whatever name you choose to Fold under, not "Team Rage3D Folding username". For example, this is where I input "7up1n3" or Honsy inputs "Honsy". We will try to make that clearer for everyone in the next guide update.

Note - Don't run the GUI client at the same time as playing an OpenGL game. Errors have been reported in both - crash to desktop, stutters etc. Just close the GUI and play, then reopen when you get done.

Indeed. That was the final straw toward making the move to console for me a couple years ago. Been zoomin' ever since. Console as a service ftw!

Plus the console makes you win a few minutes per frame compared to GUI.

Just wondering if I choose a username that is already used, but not under Team Rage3D will that affect my process tracking?

No, but you will always share stats with another person. It's considered impolite to re-use someone else's username. You could always add 'R3D' to the end of your username to still be you and have a unique user name with no-one else conflicting.

e.g. Painkiller[R3D]

No problem. Once your first WU submits and is counted you'll see your stats start to process. Enjoy the ride!

I'm a bit lost. I have my media server and my main computer running [email protected] and they report that they are working on the same task (p3040_supervillin-03). When one of my computer finishes this task does this mean that the other computer have been doing the task for no reason or are my computers working on different parts of that WU?

Good question.

Each WU is broken down into parts and distributed. You'll notice that when you download a new WU, the WU number, example P2740 on the GPU WU I'm processing right now on this computer, is followed by run info, example Run 6, Clone 119, Gen 32.

Basically, you and thousands of other Folders are all processing different parts of that P3040 WU. This distribution is what makes [email protected] so fantastic, because otherwise you'd need a supercomputer to process these WUs, and it would take years and years for it to complete each one.
