Default power supplies

I'm building another server, this time in a regular case, and I'm just wondering what a decent powersupply to get would be... If I get any Antec case will the PS be reasonable?

I'm looking at

http://www.antec-inc.com/us/pro_deta...p?ProdID=91600

for CAD 77.

Normally I would just get the cheapest CAD 28 case I can find because I've had pretty much no trouble with them but since this is for a server and a little harder to service if there IS a problem, I wanted to get something a little better.

it's for an atholn 64 3000+ system with only 2 hard drives connected.

The PSU will be fine.
Antec cases come with Antec PSUs and Antec PSUs are considered one of the best out there.

Dont get Antec Truepower
it has very high failure rate
and many ppl suffering the high pitch noise, and of course i got that annoying noise too.
Its suppose to be quiet but all it does is turn the fan slow and the unit gets very hot too.
And its definitely not quiet when u get loud high pitch noise.
I suggest you get other brand, and dont be PSU freak.

oh, and the antec truepower series is great, i don't believe there is a high failure rate at all. every one of my friends with a computer has a truepower cept me with my stealth and they have been all running incredibly well.

the antec truepower does not have a high failure rate (although two of my friend's 380w truepowers died, but nobody else seems to have major problems with them).
a 300w psu might be slightly too weak for an A64 system with two hard drives, so it would be better to get at least the 380w or 430w.

This is one of the few threads I've read where someone dissed Antec for PSU's. I'm really surprised, my experience with Antec has been excellent, and my dad's new Athlon64 system is using an Antec 430w True with no issues at all. It's very quiet too.

I wouldn't worry about your Antec purchase, Antec makes some of the best PSU's in the business.
