Have NO idea what Open Water has to do with Blair Witch, but the trailer looks interesting. RU saying Blair Witch was a scary movie?

Blair Witch is the top 3 worst movies I have ever seen.

Unlike Blair Witch, Open Water is based on something that really happened.
I think the divers it happened to wrote a book and then someone adapted the book to a movie.

But the incident in Open Water is well documented.

My, my, what a bunch of negative nancys.

Hey, I didn't invent the buzz around this flick, it obviously earned it in some way.
2, the reason for the comparison to blair witch = low budget horror that works
3, equals why it's not your typical teeny flick

Go back to your turnip tree drinks

Hehe sorry, husky. It looks dumb but I like dumb films so I'll keep an eye out for it.

Having said that, Id rather see a movie of the sinking of the USS Indianapolis, now that would be a film.

If I ever become a director I want to redefine the genre in someway, something that a horror movie doesnt do; make sense, make everything seem plausible but at the same time the events seem so surreal, something that coldnt happen but told in the way that it really could.

yeah, I might see this one once it hit's the $2 theatre..

it's the possibility of being left behind in the middle of the freakin ocean that's scary.. real life "omfg - where's the f'in boat!! we're fooked!!!1!" = teh scared shenless.. you have to be there to really appreciate it - when it's your stranded ass.. watching a movie like this can't do the situation justice..

eh, I can tread water for days, and sharks, unless it was tiger/great white, will ignore you unless they are in a frenzy. (Ala, don't make yourself look like a sea).

they had fins, mask, etc. shoot, no problems. Boring as could be for that time, but sheesh.

(And before you ask, yes I HAVE gone swimming in shark infested waters. literally hundereds of sharks, no less then 20 in any direction you face. after about an hour of relizing that they compleatly ignore you, you get used to it).

Blair Witch may have been a "bad" movie, but at least they had the guts to do something different. A horror movie which doesn't stick with the cliche stupid teen sex, bikinis and "oh my god a guy in a mask" horror that we see in "horror" movies today (that also goes for the lame teen movies such as American Pie).

Writers these days have no vision. What is more pathetic is the amount of people that go to see these lame movies these days and actually PAY $7 or more to get in the theatre to see them. Who is lamer the writers or the ones that actually watch these sorry movies?

There was a documentary on discovery channel how an allied battle ship got hit and crew had to jump out cause the ship was on fire and going down really fast, so there were like 200 men like that somewhere in of pacific ocean and how they stayed floating for 7 days and a night and how sharks would kill some of them on daily basis.

They took interview of two of the 100+ survivors(basically around 90 died), how sharks would take those who are the farthest away from the group, some drowned ofcourse, alot went insane, it was horrible story, one of them said when japanese planes were attacking them(kamikaze pilot sunk the ship) it wasnt even half as scary as being in open water at night and knowing the predators are near...

I thought Blair Witch was a very good movie. The sequel was not so good.
Funny how about video games everyone around here says "it's about gameplay, not graphics" but those are probably the same people to say a movie sucked because the special effects were not so good while totally neglecting the storyline and execution of the movie.

I'll see Open Water.
