Remorse is still being judged by the masses

Unhappy I dont belive it...

Hi,

I now have a GF4 ti 4200 installed This morning I turned on my pc and It would not boot up. No bios , no beeps , nothing. It all boils down to my 9800pro. Does this actually mean the my hunky card is dead? I really dont want to buy another one as i was going to upgrade to to an X800pro/xt in the coming months.

Anyone have any ideas?

Check all the power plugs?? Could be wrong in this, but I think a computer will boot even without a video card.

Yeh I tried everything, even taking out cd-rom and hard drive's power plugs just to make sure there is enough power. I just tried it again about an hour ago, still would'nt even boot to the bios, put the geforce back in and it worked

i had something like the same problem with my x800pro, after a little incident with some smoke and a couple flames with 2 of my fans , after that problem was rectified i went to boot back up and nothing, not even a blind boot, cleared the cmos, same thing, went to video out on my pci card (which was installed the whole time, just not running), it would boot this way but with no screen, took out the x800 and viola full boot to windows glory

luckily i already knew my x800 was dying so i was already planning on sending it out for rma next week, i already have the rma number

My advice: keep the Geforce until you have the money for that 800XT, then upgrade.

Yeh thats probably what i'll do. Does anyone know when Pci-express will become standard on the 939 platform? I really want to wait until then.

End of this year by VIA. But PCI express won't take off till the middle of next year when the NV50 and R5xx are out that are true PCI Express design. Also there is also a new PCI Express revision 1.1 out and all the boards that are out now are 1.0e. Just letting you know if you're going to jump the early adopter bandwagon.
