Default HDD dilemma.

When I got my new case yesterday, (its not quite finished need to tidy up cables and such still), they had HDDs on sale.. I picked up a WD Fireball 40gig 8meg cache..

I simply installed it, FDISK'd and formatted.. Did a test on the speed.. Its quite the difference.. Nearly twice as fast as my Maxtor..

Now, should I move everything on the smaller yet faster WD, and use the Maxtor as useless storage, or the other way around?? The slower Maxtor drive is plenty fast for what I do now, but the transfer speeds reported under Sandra with the WD is nearly double..

What you would do??

As well.. Only 1 IDE channel can "talk" at a time.. Should I share a HDD with an Optical on each channel, so that both HDDs can work at the same time?? That way I could run a swap file on one drive, and the other would contain the OS.. (Faster swapping no??)

Firestar_3x is still being judged by the masses

Use the faster drive for OS and games etc n the other for storage, keep them both on the same IDE channel, i;ve always found it slows down my HD's when mixing Optical n HD's on the same ribbon.
