What is the point of this thread?

Star trek has been woke since 1966

What do you think star trek is all about?

It's just topics don't have to be hidden anymore because supposedly people are less stupid and more tolerant now.

lack of agreement with the material didn't make it suddenly "woke"

The intellectual high horse people have to pretend to ride indicates the purpose of what star trek set out to do went wooooosh

Woke in the 70s because racism and sexism, etc

Woke the 90s because it was hand tailored to things like different races getting along, mental health, probably some post war themes

Wokenism... tokenistic wokeness.

It's one thing to have diversity and challenge norms. It's another to make the diverse characters insufferable, hollow, and patronizing. Sisko was a great, complex, character, unlike any of the characters on Discovery.

Yeah, that's not wokeness. That's bad writing. Take that element away and it's not anymore "woke" than any other series.

IMO, its similar to Disney Star Wars and Rey. I was on board with a female Jedi, but they wrote her like Burnham... simply amazing, always prevails, and no real depth or character arc... not credible, fallible people that you want to root for. You know they will always win because they are essentially perfect. Boring...
