People are out here trying to get cards to actually use for gaming and you're hoarding cards for some bullshit like mining.

jesus ****ing christ. what a shame.

I'm still of the belief that the dollar value doesn't matter. What matters is how much BTC or other crypto you have. If or when they go up you'll have more $$ when you exchange to fiat. Just horde and HODL.

I still owe you a beer Dave

No problem. I stopped posting since gaming and mining on your off time is a crime punishable by death.

heh Dave, I was waiting for you to break the ice. With eth at an all time high, the profits are insane. I basically added another income, wonder how long this joy ride will last.

I wonder if you can make the money back faster than the price of a replacement card when the vram inevitably dies.

These vram run at like 100-110'c when mining, so I'm waiting to see how long before these cards start dieing on mass.

I hope they do and manufacturers find out they were mining, and they reject the RMAs. **** all of them.

GDDR6X is definitely temperature sensitive .. much more so than GDDR6 was.

What’s better? Buying a $2000 RTX 3090 or buying BTC of the same value?

If you need the video card to play games and dont have something that is sufficiently powerful - then get the card and in about 6-8 months you'll have a card that has paid for itself.

If you already have a good graphics card - buy the bitcoin.

I am leaning towards option 2 as well. Problem is BTC is too hot w/ Elon Musk messing w/ the market. Need to wait it out before I indulge.

BTC will keep yoyoing. The overall trend should be upwards. $2000 invested might disappear in the short term but if you HODL it will be fine eventually.

$2000 on 3090 is fine, just keep in mind eth might only be mineable for another yr, if lucky more. It would pay for itself however. Just keep on mind Friday one made me $24.50 $cad yet today is on course for only $11.00. So profits aren't guaranteed

Buying anything at or near ATH seems like bad investment so I don't know about buying BTC right now. You're supposed to buy on the dip generally speaking.

If you're in it for the long term then it may not be that important if the asset continues to gain value over time, like some sort of stock market index fund for example over 20 years.

I keep expecting it to take a massive crash any but these are strange times we live in now.

Running at 75% power continually isn't as hard on the hardware as people think - and a continuous constant temp isn't as bad for chips as it is going from hot to cold and back again.

I have yet to see a card fail after many years now; and they always last well beyond warranty anyway.

That being said though, I haven't mined with a card using GDDR6X.

The 3080/90 ddr6x can heat up to 105c. That's when it starts throttling. If you keep them cool they won't get close to that. They can get that hot gaming too.

I sold all but 1 - and right after is when mining profitability picked back up again LOL

So I'm still mining on that one

Is it just me or has the hash rate fallen.
Was doing easily 83-86 MH but now it is about 70-80. Power and clocks are unchanged. Maybe need to reboot my PC.
